Hey everybody,

I have always been in normal weight but not skinny (150lbs/5ft6). When i was 17-18 my mother and sister both started to tell me that im getting fatter and fatter and uglier too. I was very sad cause i felt i was pretty and not fat but somehow i thought they were right cause one of my friends also told me this once that im a little bit too big. So i started my first diet then and it did work, i got slimmer but one moment i felt that i cant handle this diet anymore i was so hungry and i started to eat even more and of course gained back all weight. Then i started yo-yo dieting because i wasnt happy anymore with myself and now im obese (200lbs). I know its all my fault but im so sad that it happend with me. My skin is totally covered with big and purple stretchmarks, i have started to snore a lot. My body looks like im 40 not 24. I feel ugly. Im sure i need to lose weight now by following healthy diet but im scared. Im so used to being overweight.Im scared that i get even more stretchmarks and get a saggy skin.
How likely will i get rid of snoring if i lose weight? How likely will i get more stretchmarks and saggy skin after losing 50 pounds (thats my goal even if others think im still too fat and even though i know i never get back my beautiful skin i had before)? Sorry for grammatical errors-Im not american.

I'm afraid of more stretchmarks and saggy skin, too. There is really not much you can do about stretchmarks.

Right now I'm using Bio-oil to try to help fade and prevent stretchmarks. I'm not sure if it works, I'm not holding too much hope on it, since I know there's not much of a cure for it.

I read once that you have to treat your stretchmarks as sort of trophies, permanant marks that says you were able to get through something, that you accomplished something. I like the idea of it, since it looks like they might be with me forever, I might as well just accept it. Stretchmarks do fade over time though.

As for the saggy skin, I'm not too worried about it. I honestly don't know how my skin is going to react. I'm 25, just a year older than you, and I think I still have some flexibility in skin. Hopefully it will spring back just fine. I think a lot of saggy skin is just fat. So if you lose the fat, the skin will probably spring back. I'm just going to worry about it when that time comes. You can always get a tummy tuck if you do sag.

I'm not a doctor, but you might be able to get rid of your snoring now. Snoring isn't just caused by being overweight, unless fat in your neck is blocking your air passages. Snoring could be caused by lots of other reasons as well. Exercising may help strengthen your lungs and the way you breath.

Also, another thing, losing weight because people start calling you ugly or fat is not a good reason for you to start losing weight. You have to do it for you. You have to truly want it for yourself, and not care what other people think. Otherwise, you might just find yourself yo-yo-ing again, and gaining the weight back. If you think you're pretty, then you are, and don't let anyone tell you otherwise.

We all have similar issues here, and we can all get through them. Good luck.

Jennifer
