Overtraining?

I do martial arts (Taekwon-do) training consisting of sparring, drill, push ups, running on the spot and crunches for about an hour two or three times a week.
The other nights of the week i usually alternate between jumping rope and doing push ups and crunches for about half an hour. Is this enough excercise for me to worry about me overtraining?

not an expert but it does not sound like it.

i use to workout 5 days a week for 3-4 hours a day mostly running, jumping rope, bags, sparring and drills and was just fine.(not for everyone)

Now I work out 4 times every ten or so days give or take a day or so with weights for 1 1/2 - 2hours each time. (been doing so for the last month or so and I never feel over worked except maybe when I do my legs days but that is cause my legs are my week point.)

It does not sound like overtraining at all. I work out 5-6 days a week for 1-1.5 hours at a time - I've been told that it looks like I am overdoing it sometimes but I don't think I am. You are fine

also forgot to ask. What type of shape your are in matters in if it is over training or not?

Also how do you feel after your workouts or the day after?

Is there a specific reason you are asking if you are over working yourself?

I'm in pretty good shape, I've always been kind of lean but I've only gotten into excercise apart from walking in the last year or so. I've only just started jumping rope so my calves kind of hurt the day after but apart from that nothing. I'm mainly just asking because I'm paranoid about this kind of thing and someone mentioned it. I was mostly worried because I'd heard that if you train too much you dont benefit from the excercise.

Thanks everyone, you've been very reassuring.

You forgot to mention kicking kicking kicking and more kicking. I’ve earned a blackbelt in Taekwondo, there was kicking.

As has been said it depends on the shape you are in and age. People recover at different paces depending on all sorts of factors. I earned my belt when I was 30. Training every other day worked best for me at that age and weight, others could train more others less. I just stuck to a hard day then an easy day to practice forms.

The hard days, I’d run in the mornings, lift weights at lunch and go to class after work. Recovery days were forms after work.

Wish I could afford it and had the time to do it again.

If there is a specific goal you are after and you notice after a while there is no change, you need to reassess your exercise regime. Overtraining could come into it then. But at the same time it could be that your body needs a break from routine.

Usually signs of OT include trouble sleeping, irritable etc
