Yesterday I was watching oprah. The show was about weight loss stories to help motivate you. It was so awesome. One lady lost 530 pounds! WITHOUT surgery or pills! And they showed a picture of one kinda fat guy and then they brought him out, and now he's all muscley! I admit i'm a little envious of their motivation..i wish i could keep up a diet for more than a week like the lady that lost 530 pounds. That's just pure awesomeness :p

why can't you stay on a diet for more than a week?

Losing a large amount of weight isn't really that hard... it's a matter of viewing it as a lifestyle change and taking it day to day... you eventually get where you want to be.

wishing doesn't make weight loss possible - action does...

you signed on here about 2 weeks ago with 80lbs to lose..

have you started to put together a plan that you can work with?
What have you decided to do for yourself?

Not the happy feel good forum that you thought? People here will hold you to task. Stick around and do what Mal says and you will lose weight. You might even thank her later, but we won't hold our breath.

i KNOW EXACTLY WHAT YOU MEAN ABOUT BEING ENVIOUS OF OTHER POEPLES MOTIVATION AND NOT BEING ABLE TO STAY ON A DIET MORE THAN A WEEK...IT HAS TAKEN ME NEARLY TWO YEARS TO DROP 20 POUNS AND KEEP IT OFF. I WOULD LOSE 5 POUNDS THEN STRUGGLE FOR MONTHS TO KEEP IT OFF. BUT IT DOESNT MATTER. GO AT THE PACE THAT IS BEST FOR YOU. ITS ALL MENTAL!! SAYING IT AND DOING IT ARE TWO TOTALLY DIFFERENT THINGS..MAN I TALKED A BIG TALK FOR A LONG TIME BUT NOW THAT IM SEEING RESULTS FROM ACTUAL CHANGES IVE MADE THERES NO LOOKING BACK! IT IS NOT EASY , THATS SOMETHING I HAD TO REALIZE...I WANTED IT TO BE EASY BUT THE ON THE CONTRARY TO WHAT THE OTHER POSTER SAID. I BELIEVE THAT IT IS NOT EASY AT ALL ITS A FIGHT AND A CONSTANT STRUGGLE BUT THE PAYOFF IS WORTH IT...YOU CAN DO IT!! ; )

pssst -annie -I think your caps lock key is broken you might want to get a new keyboard.. :)

But in all honestly there's a difference between losing 50, 60, 80, 100, 200 lbs and losing 20lbs.. .the more you have to lose -the easier it really is - small changes result in big differences... the less you have to lose -the more precise you have to be and the harder it gets... it's just a matter of deciding that you want to do it and are willing to commit to those changes..

I agree. I'm 5'5, 25 years old and need to lose about 15-25 lbs to be more comfortable with myself and I find it very hard to make those extra lifestyle changes that I need to to reduce or maintain my current weight. One step and one day at a time. Kudos to me, I exercised today! :O)

I had recorded the Oprah show and watched it last night... wow! I started with 43 pounds to lose, and I thought that was going to be sooo hard. After I saw that Oprah show I mentally slapped myself and said "get yourself together!"
If someone can lose over 500 pounds I can lose 43!
I started working out 7 days ago, and I weighed myself today, down 3.5 pounds!!

*laughs* I didn't think you were pushy at all. I'm from brooklyn, trust me I know what bitchy is. I just have no motivation, that's all. I mean, i do for a few days but then it dies. :(
