any ideas woudl be great!! ( im a 24 male)

You can't pick a portion of your body to lose fat from, and do it. Humans don't work like that. The first, easiest place you store fat is most likely the last place it will come off of you. Sorry.

That said, fat loss is triggered by eating in a caloric deficit, meaning less energy in than out. The idea is to find your "sweet spot" where you are losing weight, but not too much. Weight loss at too fast of a rate means you are losing a lot more than just fat, you are losing muscle too, which is NEVER a good thing.

So how much can you expect to lose? That really depends on how much you have to lose. People with a lot to lose can lose at a faster rate than the opposite. I would say 1-3 lbs per week is ok.

.

thanx mate

so yeah thats wat ive always thought IN vs OUT energy...

how do i know how much energy i use in a normal day living??

and wat bout how much i in take??

should i lift weights as well as cardio to enhance caloric buring? (wight loss)

I know what has helped best with my waist area, but I´m not a native speaker and couldn´t find the fight word for it in any dictionary :( It´s basically two metal plates (mine is metal, but there are also plastic ones) on top of each other. You step on these plates and start to move your body side to side. The upper plate moves and the lower one stands still, so that your lower body moves from side to side and upper part of your body doesn´t. So the waist moves all the time.
I don´t know if you understood a word of what I was saying  Here´s a picture of mine (it´s really old as you can see)
It´s the best thing I have found for waist area. You can already see the results after exercising on it for a week, 30 minutes a day. And it´s not even hard to work out on it! :p

Maybe you had no use of what I posted but at least I tried :D
Good luck!

Spot reduction is a physiological impossibility.

I´m only writing about what has worked for me.

Yes, I can see that. And I am telling you that the subcutaneous fat on your stomach did not go away simply because of this contraption you were using. Fat loss in a function of energy balance, plain and simply.

Congrats if you toned down your belly, but realize, it was due to other factors and not this contraption.

Agreed 100%

Since the guy asked (besides other things) for ways to just trim it up a bit and make it look better I thought I´d share my experience. I AM still sticking to a statement that exercising on this machine made my belly look much better and decreased centimetres around my waist. Of course I watched what I ate and moved myself, but isn´t that what everybody does? This exercise was simply a lot of help in making clothes fit better and general appearance nicer. What more can you do with less than 2 months? There is no sentence in which I´ve claimed that all my stomach fat disappeared or anything else that mystical.
Anyway, sorry for speaking up.

what about?

When I do crunches and other stomach exercises, I feel tighter in that area. Does that have any effect on anything? Maybe posture? Maybe psychological feeling good? That's worth a lot, too.

People really do not like being corrected around here. I don't get it. When I am corrected, I want to come through the computer and shake your hand. I love learning. I am NOT AT ALL personally attacking you my friend. I sincerely mean this. I am just making sure that the best information is provided to the original poster.

He is asking how to lose abdominal fat and your recommendation is an exercise. This sends up a red flag to anyone who actually knows anything about physiology and how we, as humans, lose subcutaneous fat.

I feel like picking this post apart, not to prove you wrong, but to help you understand. However, based on how you are taking offense to what I have said thus far in this conversation, I honestly think it would be a waste of my time.

Good day to you, I hope, mate.

Surely, training the core is an important aspect of overall body training. We need strong cores to be healthy. And whenever you train a muscle group, abdominals included, they are going to feel "tight". That does not mean it is doing anything to the fat that is on top of your abdominals, if that is what you are asking. They are 2 separate universes of tissues.

Thanks for posting that Tony, I found it very helpful. I was wondering if you knew of a site that would show how to do those workouts?

In my short time around this forum I have come to learn that you can't just cut fat in your mid section. Even though I am a novice I feel that sometimes people try to drive home the point that you can't pick and choose where to burn fat rather than atleast offering some small advice. If some one asks, "How do I tone my arms?" I'm guessing that there would be some tips or sugestions on workouts. But if some one asks "How do I tone up my core area?" Its almost like the imediate response is...."You can't just pick and choose".

I didn't mean to blow up there, I hope it doesn't seem like that. I understand that abs and stuff can be a touchy subject and I understand that it can be an extremely hard area to work on.

So anyways, I am also looking for a workout that will work the muscles of my back near and around my kidney area.

You should be working all of your muscles. Buy the book, "New Rules of Lifting." Great book for starting out in proper resistance training program design.

Um, I am working our all of my muscles...atleast trying to. I don't know of any workouts at this time that work the back in the kidney areas. I guess some people don't like give out many tips around here.

I'll look into that book, but does anyone have a work out that they can suggest so that I can add it to my workout tonight?

There was no offence taken. But you´re right, there is no point in continuing this discussion. The starter of this topic can follow your advice and continue his journey however he thinks best and our argument changes nothing. I´m convinced you know it all much better than me and give him valuable advice and he´s smart enough to take it.

However, I´m glad you found educating me a waste of your time. It would be the same for me. I´m not that naive to think that a couple of moves from side to side would cheerfully burn all my stomach fat. If it did, I´d be a slim chick already. I was simply offering a way to make some visible changes in these 2 months he has, because I´ve seen on myself that these changes do occur. (Wanna bet? :p) Actually I don´t really care how it works, as long as I can see the results and feel better. Yeah, i know it´s foolish.

Honestly, I´m not arguing with you when it comes to physiological processes. It was simply my modest attempt to help. Silly idea. Won´t do that again, promise.

And I really admire your honesty.

I´m not offended, by the way. I simply tend to express myself more straightforwardly than people usually do.

Hope we´re okay.
Have a nice day my friend.

Geez man. Are you seriously going to say I don't like handing out too many tips. Do me a favor. Click on my username and see how many posts I made in the last 2 days. Better yet, read the posts I made in the last 2 days. I have spent hours of my time. I am not looking for a trophy or even thanks. I did it because I love to. But I am certainly not looking for someone to tell me I am not here to help people.

Give me a freaking break mate.

And while you are at it, look up an exercise called the deadlift. I assume you are talking about your lumbar portion of your back. I am pretty sure it would do the trick, plus a whole lot more for you.

More than okay. I was never offended. :)

Good day.
