operation!

Hi

I was supposed to have an operation this fall but my doctor told me to lose 20lbs by the beginning of november or the operation. I don't know if this is likely but the Atkins diet seems to lead to quick weight loss? any ideas?

Atkins is crap and is not a healthy way to lose weight in my opinion. By robbing yourself of the benefits of carbs you may have a quick fix, but the body uses your carbs for more than just storage.. Your brain will not function as well, you will be low energy and a whole bunch of other bad stuff.

I would recommend you develop a smart low calorie diet and perform cardiovascular exercise as well as lifting. There are a bajillion posts here describing various ways to accomplish this, search around and pick one that you think is realistic for you.

good luck with cutting and good luck with surgery when the time comes.

If you seriously need to lose weight for your health and aren't sure where to start you should tell your doctor, he can refer you to a nutritionist who can work out a plan for you. I've had a friend who went on the plan through her doctor and she lost a lot of weight and has kept it off long-term in a healthy manner.

Talk to your doctor!

Good luck!
