Only water

Introduction
Hi. I just joined the forum. I want to make a diary about my diet for 2 reasons. First one, I hope it'll help me keep it going, and the second one, maybe someone else would be interested about this info. As you could tell from the title I plan on consuming only water ( and coffee , no sugar) for a month.

About myself
My name is Cristian, I'm 20 years old, I am from Romania and I am currently in college. My height is 1.8 meters (5.9 feet) and I currently weight around 97 kg (214 pounds). I was fat most of my life, the worst being when I was about 14 years when I weighted 93kg(205 pounds) but I was smaller. At that point I went for a harsh diet for 1 week and then kept a normal diet until I was 16 years old and weighted 77kg(170 pounds) with pretty much the same height as I have now. I got pretty fat in the last year by eating out of boredom , kinda stupid I know. I have a very sedentary life and I do no cardio, because I don't like doing it. I want to keep this diet to start changing my life style as I think is pretty bad right now and this should help me keep motivated, hopefully and I'm also curios about the results.

Updates
23.11.2016 - (forgot to weight myself) Today I started my diet. My fridge is empty and I am ready. Hope for the best!
24.11.2016 - 97 kg (214 pounds) My first day of diet has passed now. I can say it was pretty good, I was hungry 1 or 2 times during the day, but the feel went away eventually. I currently think about going to a gym to workout ( muscle, no cardio) as I am kinda afraid of losing muscle during this diet, not that I have much to lose, but just a thought. If I decide to go to the gym I will post it here.

I didn't make any plans on when to update this diary, but I'll try to update it once in 2-4 days let's say or if something interesting happened. If there are people with experience in this kind of diet it'd be nice of you to share your knowledge. And if I made mistakes in my writing I am sorry, I didn't had time to read through my post again and I'm not the best at english . Thank you for listening and have a nice day.

Hi Cristian & welcome to the forum. If you're considering forgoing food to try to lose weight or "cleanse" your body, please, be warned: You're likely to do more harm than good by living on water alone. Without calories or other nutrients from food, you'll likely feel tired and lethargic on a water fast. You may also feel dizzy and lightheaded and experience headaches, low blood pressure and abnormal heart rhythms. If your water fast lasts for days or longer, the risks grow dramatically. You may compromise your immune system and organ function, possibly damaging the kidneys and liver.
A water fast may lead to rapid initial weight loss, but the numbers on the scale can be deceptive. Severe caloric deprivation causes muscle and water loss, so much of the weight isn't coming from fat. Your metabolism will also slow as your body tries to conserve energy, so you'll start burning fewer calories than you did in your solid-food days. Once you start eating normally again, the pounds will pile back on quickly -- and you may even wind up weighing more than you did when you started your fast.
To just meet basic nutritional needs, most women need at least 1,200 calories per day, and most men need at least 1,500 calories per day. To lose weight the healthy way, get those calories from fresh, unprocessed foods such as fruits, vegetables, whole-wheat bread, brown rice, fish and beans. Then, exercise regularly to help prevent muscle loss and burn more calories, helping you slim down faster. This method will eliminate the risks that come with fasting and help ensure that the weight stays off for good.
Do this the right way & learn the skills to stay slim & healthy for the rest of your life. Your body needs nutrition & nourishment.

If you are looking into fasting, maybe see about Intermittent Fasting? or Alternative Day fasting? No one will ever jump into a 30 day fast - usually it's 12 hrs, 24 hrs and working their way up to 30 days if they so choose. It's also not for weight loss at that point - it's more mental changes than physical.

If you're going to embark on this, or if you've continued as you haven't updated in a few days, please speak with your doctor so they can, at very least, monitor your progress and ensure you're safe.

I'm with Cate on this one.

If you were to drink water (and coffee) for a month as a replacement for other beverages (pop, juice, milk, etc) then I would say "Hell yeah, go for it!!!"

However, since you are looking to literally consume NOTHING BUT water (and coffee) I have to say "NO...BAD IDEA."

Just eat regularly and drink your water (and coffee) for a month and see how that goes. Then, as time goes by and you get more comfortable with the changes to your diet, start cutting down on the amount of calories you eat. Or, try cutting back on sugar or carbs or whatever. But, don't just jump right into not eating anything at all. You'll regret that decision.
