During school i dont have time to eat an apple or anything really unlesss its like crackers or a lil baggy of cereal.
Also Do you know the Lipton Noodles LIke Chedder Brocali Noodles or Asisan Terryiki noodles, could i eat them or would they be to high in calories and fat the chedder broc. has around 340 in the whole package i think but i would even eat close to that and only 300 in the asian terryiaki noodles. What do you think?

Ill be honest with you, I can't remember how much you weigh, but Ill plug all that into my fitday journal and see what it comes up to.

I think you may be a little low

the foods you have listed equal about 500 calories if your eating 1 portion worth.

Am I right in thinking you weighed 120 or so?

Baked potatoes are very good, leave the sour cream off though and just a little butter. They have a very high glycemic index so they don't burn off too easily

Hi aevans, im 18 yrs old.. does this change anything?

I didnt know that I really have to eat at least 1500 cals, I thought if I dont intake much calories, that means when I exercise my body will get energy from my stored fat.. i guess im wrong.

So you mean I have to eat at least 1500 cals to make sure my body wont go to starvation mode?

no i weigh 137 i wish i weighed 120! Oh yea so did u just say that baked potatoes are good for you but they are hard to burn off?? And how bout the wild rice?

1.exercise
2.cardio
3.eat sensibly

That's what it takes. Knowing your bodyfat percentage greatly increases your chance in losing fat.

Baked potatos are good, they have a high glycemic index meaning its slow burning carbs. They provide energy longer, making the calories in the potato go further before you feel hungry again.

Jo Anne,

Check out this website:

It won't be 100% perfect (As everyone is different) but it should be rather close.

Also, I am a 6'1" male (22 years old) who was stalled out in my weight loss. (Not gaining any, not losing any) I exercise twice a day (aerobic) with weight training once a day.

After hearing that 1500 calories was way too low for me, I increased my caloric up to 1800-1900 and since then I've continued to lose weight. I know it sounds weird (eat more to lose weight), but that's the way your body works once it's in starvation mode.

Good health to ya!

Yes, eat at least 1500 a day. If you go into starvation mode, your body sacrifices muscle before fat.

If you want to get down and deep with the numbers of weight loss, like I have fun doing sometimes, here are a few more forumlas you may need to determine how much you should eat.

After you've determined you're needed caloric rate from a few online calculators, determine how many calories you burn while exercising during the day. Finally, count how many calories you eat in a day (if you aren't already).

Then, for safe weight loss, use this formula.

(CaloricRate+ExerciseCalories)-CaloriesEaten=1000

So, for myself, my Caloric Rate is 2700 calories per day. (This is how much I need to maintain the same weight) I burn let's say 600 calories per day.

(2700+600)-CaloriesEaten=1000
3300-CaloriesEaten=1000

Which means I should eat around 2200 calories per day to lose 2lbs per week. (Assuming I exercise every day)

How did I come up with this 1000 number? Simple; 1 lb of fat is 3500 calories. Ergo, 2lbs is 7000 calories or 1000 calories per day.

My point is this: try to go for a weekly weight loss of 2-3 lbs per week. That's what is healthy, and that's what most healthcare professionals recommend.

Hi guys, thanks for all your advice I'm following them.. but I got a question though.

If I ate just 800 cals a day, and I burned more calories than 800 by exercising and normal activities (at work and school), where does my body get the energy from? I mean wont it get energy from my stored fat? Just wondering. I'm definitely doing the 1500 cals a day though :)

Thanks!

yeah thats all fat is, is stored fat, but yeah 800 calories a day is not enough at all, you can only get so much energy from fat, and when you dont have enough calories from food you get tired and go into starvation mode, and most everything you eat gets turned into fat.

Hi everyone im at the university's computer lab right now, I just finished my daily workout.

I used the treadmill for 1 hr and the elliptical walking thing for 30 minutes

I did some weight training, for 15 minutes then I went backon the treadmill for 15 minutes

Breakfast-herbalife shake
lunch- savoury turkey subway 6 inch with low carb ranch and swiss cheese
Dinner - herbalife shake

both shake got protein powder and i drink vitamins too..

Do I sound healthy now? Or.. I need to eat more? the shake's got 150 cals each. and the sandwich got 300.. so i ate a total of 600 calories. I guess its too low. I just cant eat more im soo full!

That's low! Try eating fruits inbetween meals, or yogurt. I understand the 'full' part, I normally, sadly (though I seem to gorge...) rarely reach 1500 calories a day, and I'm trying to boost my intake, but all of the foods I eat are low cal, and healthy foods, and I eat until I'm satesfied.

but im so scared to eat alot coz this is what made me fat in the first place.. but yeah il try il eat fruit when i get home thanks maria camille :)

no prob :)

Try to eat 5-6 small meals a day, eating more, in smaller portions, will boost your metabolism, as ironic as that sounds, it's been proven.

thats incredibly low.... your body is probally going into starvation mode, actually im certain it is with the excess cardio you are, you should only do like 30 minutes 4 times a week a max, any more and your just wasting time and burning muscle.
