Hi all! My name is April and I'm 28 years old.
I have battled my weight all of my life and have always had a very unhealthy relationship with food. When I was a teenager, I tried binging and then making myself throw up; however, I had a very difficult time throwing up so I soon gave that up. I've tried starving myself by seeing how long I could go without solid food. I've tried restricting my caloric intake to 1,000 calories a day while exercising 2-3 hours a day. I've tried all sorts of diet pills, fasts, etc. All of this worked at first, but eventually I would grow tired of torturing myself and would turn back to food. I want to develop a healthy lifestyle...eating a healthy diet and exercising regularly. I'm 5'9" and currently weigh in at around 240lbs. I'm the heaviest I've ever been and am thoroughly disgusted with myself...I know I have to make a change.
My friends are not supportive of my wanting to get healthy and it is making it even harder to change my ways...they sort of mock my efforts. I read over some posts and everyone seems so supportive here...I'm hoping it will help me stay on track!
