Older, Wiser, but still fat...

Karl!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I skimmed through (lots to read!) and you are doing soooo amazing! Thanks for the welcome back in my journal! Big hugs! Can't wait to jump back on that bike....the last time I was on it, I recall beating you with 32 miles! I've got to get back on track. You are such an inspiration. I'm glad you are still here and still going strong. Congrats on getting in the 200s! :D

hmm.... 32 miles huh? I've been there a few times... I did over 400 miles a month in the summer.

But hey anytime you want to, its on!!

I'm just glad to see your smiling face back here

Oh yeah, well I got you beat...this summer, I pushed out an 8 lb. 9 oz baby! hehehe ; ) So how many miles are you normally doing at one time now? Btw, I'm still using an exercise bike so I def. have an advantage...but I'm a girl.. so... we're even... :p

Hmmm.... I feel like my good nature is being taken advantage of on that one :toetap05:

During the summer I was riding 20 -25 miles at a time, usually 5 days a week, sometimes more. Right now I'm back in school, and the days are shorter, ie. less daylight to schedule riding time when I'm not busy. I'm slowly shifting a lot of my riding indoors onto either one of the spinning bikes at the gym, the expresso computer bikes, or on my own mag trainer for my bike. If I can get outside and have the time, I will but most of the rides lately have only been around 16 miles or so. I did ride 30 on monday.

Last year at my school gym, the offered a trail challenge on the Expresso bikes.
The trails are programmed into the bike and present varying loads depending upon terrain (ascent, descent, rough pavement etc.) You can "shift" the bikes and "steer" them to stay on the computerized trail.

They are actually pretty realistic as far as the workout is concerned. I won a couple T-shirts last year for posting the fastest times in some of the trails.

This semester, the challenge is to finish all of the available trails, from beginner to advanced. Every 4 new trails finished, you pick up a T-shirt. I cycled five of them today. Keeps it interesting if you have to be indoors.

So:
Cardio: 45 minutes on the Expresso bike.

Pull workout:
Chest supported rows 3x5x200 lbs
lat pull downs 3x5x200 lbs
Single arm curls on cable cross 3x5x75lbs
Standing rows 3x5x105lbs
Roman chair back extensions 2x14
crunches 80 straight, 60 each diag L/R

What a fun journey you've had! Read most of the entries (many pages), and I must say yours is the funnest journal I have read here. You make hard work seem so easy. Way to go on nearly 100 lbs drop. What a rockstar!!

Good luck!

well, It hasn't been that easy...

But I do try to make things fun when I can! Thanks for comin gover Juni. I'll have to check your diary out also.

Hey Karl!
Gonna pop in on ya real quick just to let you see that I am true to my word. I will stick around if I know that everyone else will be here too. Just seemed like for a while there like no one was around. What with Kimmers going MIA and Kimberly having a baby (beautiful one too!) and Kristi having hers and you were busy with your wife. I just felt like most of the time I had no one to really chat at. Maybe that is still the case (shrugs shoulders) but I do need to get back on track and maybe this is the way I need to do it.
You on Facebook? 'Cuz let me tell ya, I am addicted to Facebook! hahaha
Catch ya later.
Dawn

That's f***ing awesome stuff, Karl.

Look at how great all those changes are.

Off some of your meds - win.

No smoking for year - epic win.
You're my hero, man. You're a goddamn inspritation, sir.

I'd give you a salute, but they don't have a smiley for that so I'll give you a beer instead: :beerchug:

Hi Karl

Your a good egg & thanks.

Those stats are ace and well done, both the quitting smoking and the weight loss are awesome. My biggest vice was excessive boozing from a very young age (and chain smoking) hard to believe it now, I haven't touched either for well over a year and it feels good not to be chained to such stuff, for me it does anyway.

Bloody brilliant and I would raise a beer to you Karl but I don't touch the stuff so I raise my lemonade, keep it going buddy.

I know Im being a bit of an ass with this thing and struggling big time to get the motivation going, same old excuses, all the same excuses they are.

Will get myself so mad that something will just click into place.

See you around & please for your future, keep up the good work.

I did indeed! I ate too much, made poor choices, drank... Had a really good time too, all by design really.

And came back in at the same weight today as last week...

Not a bad thing really!

Monday:
Upper body press, squats.

Cycled an Expresso bike trail, then went out for 14 miles on the real bike.

All in all a pretty good day of exercise.

School went alright, my CAD classis starting to pick up, I need to bear down on this one, it could throw me if I'm not on top of it.

I'm coming down with a cold, no treally happy about that. Mostly head stuff right now, hoping it doesn't drop into my chest, that can be disastrous for me when it does. My asthma history makes sure of that.

Hey folks, I want to say something here. I really, really appreciate the support everyone has given me over the time I've been here and I enjoy the friendships I've made. I often vent about things in here so that I won't let them get to me in my personal life. Sometimes I get very personal. I use this public forum as a method of actually venting privately if that makes sense?

As a result, I try to keep my personal life somewhat insulated from my rantings and such here. This is the reason why I don't give out truly personal things like my facebook account and such. It isn't a slight to anyone, I really do enjoy everyone here being around. I'm just trying to keep a few degrees of separation. There are a coupld of people who have that information who I trust implicitly and I'm probably going to keep it there.

Hello cabbie ,[ I love your name :) ] thanks for dropping by my profile. I can only imagine how it must be like to drop the 91 lb which you have dropped. Your ship is pretty close to the treasure chest of fitness , I see. :) Take care and do drop in at times. Keep the comments and messages coming. Its guys like you that inspire me to strive harder to achieve my goals.

The expresso trails are on a bike like this.

The trails are programmed into it and you become an interactive part of it. As you go forward, the trails become increasingly more difficult. The bike "steers" and "shifts" as the terrain on screen changes. Some of the trails are flat, some become quite hilly and require a steady grind in a lower gear. Not a bad simulation of a real ride to keep your mind occupied while stationary.

So today I am good and sick. Sudafed and Nyquil sick. My chest has been spared so far, it is all head congestion. As a result I did get a ride in Tuesday. Mellow one, about 14 miles. No lift though. I'll see how I feel Wednesday before I tackle that. If I need another day it will be fine. I don't lose sleep about it now. I know I'll be right back in th gym as soon as my body allows me to be.

Feeling a bit better. No more nyquil, sudafed still but my energy level is coming back.

Did 2 more Expresso Trails, 12 in all now, which entitles me to 3 T-shirts won inth ecollege trail challenge. Tehy are getting tougher, with many more "hills" thrown into the program.
H/R average over 45 minutes today rougly 146 bpm.

Awfully quiet around here lately...:leaving:
