Hi! I've been working out for about 6 months now with a personal trainer, but our company let him go, so I'm on my own. I'm 55, and have been doing a combination of cardio, yoga, weights, and stretching. I've only lost about 20 lbs (I'm 5'10" and 203), but I've lost 6" off of my waist, down to a 36. I work out 3 times a week for an hour, and we have a modest gym with free weights, lat pull-down. leg extension, leg press, pec deck, and a treadmill, plus medicine balls and stability balls. Our stairs in the building are 22 steps, and I warm up with 28 flights, stopping periodically to let my heart rate recover. Then I go on to various weights, mixed with yoga and stretching. It all seems to be working; I'm just trying to find and maintain a direction. My goals are to lose a bit more weight, and increase strength and endurance. I don't care about impressing anybody- that ship sailed a long time ago. I just want to be able to keep up when I have physical work to do, and try to stay out of the doctor's office. So I'll hang out here and do some reading, and ask dumb questions from time to time!
