Old Guy needs HELP

At 21 years old I weighed in at 153 lbs. At 30 I weighed 162 lbs. That was pretty much the norm for the next 35 years. I retired five years ago and quit smoking at the same time. I now weigh in at 180. By the way, I am 69 years old, 5'9" tall, in good health, but not comfortable at 180 lbs. The weight is all in my midsection. I can eat junk food, a pound of steak, desserts, you name it and I will stay at 180. I recently went on a diet and try to stay between 1500-1800 calories. I also cut out all salt and try to eat only unprocessed foods. No breads, pastas, or potatoes. I also do weight training at least four times a week. I notice the stomach bloating (beer belly) is pretty much gone but my weight is still 180. It won't budge. It's been over a month and I still have that fat bulge around my waste and the good old love handles in back. I'm really getting frustrated. Any suggestions ?

Do you eat alot of fruits and vegetables? Did you know it takes 72 hrs for red meat to digest. I went to a weight loss doctor and after he told me that, I swear meat disgusts me. I still eat chicken and fish. Are you walking? Try atleast 15 minutes a day. Most important: Read around the forum, it has been very useful for me.

Good luck
