Ok...theres A Prob.

OK...THERES A PROBLEM WITH ME AND EXERCISING. I LOOOVE RUNNING AND I LIKE RUNNING LONG DISTANCE. AND NOW, ITS BEEN A WHILE SINCE I'VE RAN LIKE 3 MILES, MAX. ITS BEEN PROBABLY 2 1/2 MONTHS. AND NOW I PROMISED MYSELF THAT I WOULD START RUNNING THIS WK. I WANT TO KEEP THAT PROMISE ALSO. BUT THE BIG PROBLEM WITH ME IS THAT I ENCOURAGE MYSELF TO RUN AND ALL BUT THEN I GET TOO TIRED OR I JUST DONT END UP RUNNING FOR SOME REASON. ITS NOT LIKE I HAVE A BUSY SCHEDULE OR ANYTHING BUT I GUESS YOU CAN SAY I GET LAZY. I WANNA GET BACK IN SHAPE REALLY BAD. BUT WHAT DO I DO IN ORDER FOR ME NOT TO SLACK OFF??? RIGHT NOW I WEIGH....150 AND I WANT TO REACH FOR ATLEAST TO 120. I THINK THATS A PRETTY GOOD AVRG WEIGHT FOR MY HIGHT....5'6. BUT I DONT KNOW???? WHAT DO YALL THINK????? I NEED SOME HEEEEEEELP!!!! :)

Whoa, take off the CAPS ! Unless you meant to yell at us. Every runner has had that same problem at some point. You just have to plan your runs. Write out a plan for the week and don't miss it. If you get out there and half way through you feel the distance is too long, then turn back. At least you were out there.
The biggest hurdle is getting out the door with your shoes on. Most of the time when I make myself go on a run, it turns out to be an excellent run. SO, just plan your runs in advance and do your best to keep the schedule.

Motivation is a personal thing. Staying and keeping motivated is all on you and how much getting and staying in shape means to you. For me starting to look like a couch potatoe at 26 was enough to get me going. I've only been going for about 3 months but hopefully I can keep it going.

One thing I have found to help keep me doing something is to change up the cardio. Do something other than running sometimes to just change it up a bit and see if that helps.

But getting out the door is pure motivation. How much do you REALLY want to get in shape? The schedule really helps. Set a reasonable time of the day for you to do your runs. If your like me trying to wake up early to go for a run is out of the question so why try to add it there when I know I'm not going to do it? When you set that time make sure you do it. Don't come up with excuses. Just get up get going. Make it something for you that is an appointment that must be kept.

I've also found a workout/running partner can really help to keep you motivated. If you don't feel like running one day hopefully your partner does and they'll give you crap untill you get off your arse. But if you really aren't motivated to get yourself into shape none of this is going to help. YOU have to want it for yourself.
