It wouldn't be much of a stretch to say that a big majority of the players in the 70s were juicing...

Lyle Alzado is probably the most famous of all of them...

I'd also go out on a limb and say that 'roids 30 years ago weren't quite as potent as they are today...
 
the 70s are an interesting period in steriod usage...

I watched them on television... but anyone who saw the East Germen Women's Swim Team in the Olympics absolutely destroy the competition... something was definitely up but I'mnot sure people really knew what was fueling the speed...
 
Roids have been a part of sport for a very long time.

And yea, there are better drugs now. It's like medicine. They keep advancing and advancing.

I would say of course tons of players were using roids. Not using roids - in an environment where they weren't illegal, nor were they banned by the NFL - would be like somebody not using Protein powder or Creatine today. If its a legal supplement then for sure they are/were using it.
