Off to a good start :)

Hey everyone- I've been lurking for a couple of weeks or so and have enjoyed the friendly and helpful atmosphere.

Using some professional advice, I overhauled my diet a week ago today. I'm currently eating 1200-1500 calories/day (I'm a 5'8" female, currently 170 lbs.) I've been emphasizing lots of water, veggies, whole grains and lean meat and watching my fat and refined sugar intake. I get my exercise in the form of hauling my 3-year-old in a wagon up very steep gravel roads (I live in the country.) It's one heck of an intense aerobic and weight-bearing workout. I feel FANTASTIC and full of energy. I've lost 5 lbs so far and feel very optimistic. I can feel the change, even if it won't be visible for awhile yet.

My goal is to be 150 lbs, which is what I weighed when I graduated high school. Having a larger frame, 150 lbs looks quite slender and healthy on me. I maintained that weight all my adult life, but am finding that my metabolism is slowing down since I turned 30 last fall.

I look forward to getting to know you all on our shared journey!
