Off and Walking

Another 1.5 lbs!:hurray:
And I ate breakfast, of some sort, almost every day.
I am not a breakfast eater. So, most of the time it is a piece of whole whet toast with a tsp. of peanut butter, and a banana, with a 12oz sf/skinny latte(gotta have my coffee!).
I could still add more calories.. and probably will, eventually. Right now though it seems like there's not enough time to eat more than a quick snack for lunch and we already eat dinner pretty early. That has left me with the night time munchies.. I usually get a little hungry befor I go to bed because we eat no later than 5pm. bf gets up way too early to have dinner any later, sometimes we even eat as early as 4:30.
So far I have done a good job limiting my night time nibbles to tortilla chips and salsa.

Congratulations on the weight loss. :hurray:

I hope that you manage to find a way of keeping your walk in your schedule. It could be that the car that you saw was a neighbour of sorts - curious as to what you were doing out. It may be worth taking a note of the number plate and seeing if you spot the car again in daylight. Many things can seem a little scary after dark.

I am pleased that you are eating breakfast - it is an important meal. It is something that I did not do until I started this project - and I have to admit that I have my breakfast mid-morning. I just cannot face food as I first get up.

I havent noticed you mention whether you are drinking water. Drinking cold water is a good idea from a lot of different perspectives. It helps you not to snack, it helps keep you regular - something that people suffer from on a diet sometimes when never before, it helps your skin cope with a changed shape.

Many authorities say that we should try and drink 64 fluid ounces or 2 litres of water a day. A lot of people have a bit of a struggle getting through it.

Take care
Best wishes

OK the car thing is kinda creepy. I know what you mean about the frustration with walking. I had to get a treadmill. We have a 1.5 loop at the beach that I used to go walk, but its a social scene & going without looking perfect makes me an outsider. Seems the place for the perfect crowd to jog. uh,no. Then there is a park, which is sketchy. Too much shady stuff going on there to be a single gal comfortable walking. The beach is nice if I can make it at the perfect time where there isn't a lot of people lounging about. The neighborhood I live in has way too many unleashed dogs, even though that is against the law. Last time I went a german shepard almost got me. I get here he was coming from (stranger walking into his turf) but having to carry a big stick & potentially use it on an animal that is just doing what he feels is right sucks.

Maybe a local school track? I used to walk at the one at the university here, but lately I am just to self- conscience to jump in there with the track team, which seems to be practicing everytime I think about going. My work hours have limited me, but if you can be flexible & find a good time of the day, who knows.

Good luck & trust your gut. If you feel something was fishy, it probably was. Be careful.

Great work on being dedicated & going for that walk. You will find a way. Even if its just pacing from one end of the house to the other! :)

I am still working on the walking dilemma, but I will eventually figure it out. If I wasn't so self conscious I would just go to work early and walk while the students are doing PFT, but I feel embarassed to walk while they run (and there is no way I can keep pace with a bunch of teeny boppers right now). Maybe after I lose some of this weight.. so, at least I can run part of it.

Or, maybe when the new students arrive after the 1st of the year I could join them then (bbbrrrr). There is usually at least one who struggles to keep up, and often they are overweight too. Maybe having me there will make it less embarassing for them (the PF instructors never embarass anyone, they make it the priority of the other classmates to encourage the students who struggle).

So, now that I am getting the hang of the breakfast component, I am going to undertake the water thing. I tento drink coffee or diet soda all day. I am not a water drinker ( I don't like it). I do like Dasani water, but I know it has added to it, an I am not sure if the amount of salt it has is considered "a lot" or not. BTW has anybody ever done a "water challenge"?

Hey, Miss T! :seeya: from :eh:
I like your attitude and your career! What a great thing to do, investing your life in the lives of young men who have likely not had too much positive input or mentoring. I think that rocks! My nephew killed a guy when he was just 17, and now is serving a life sentence in BC. Very tragic; I hope he has a great person like you encouraging him to turn things around.

I think your plan sounds sensible. You're right to increase your caloric intake using healthy foods and good portions! I know it can be hard to eat what feels like so much when you're used to less. But you will get used to this new way of living, too.

Best wishes on your journey! :auto:

Hi Miss T

No-one could possibly be more self-conscious than I was. I had pretty much given up on going out of the house. I generally only went out by car once a week the grocery store - otherwise I stayed at home.

You have to remember that I was noticeably bigger than you are.

I tried going out - short distances at first. It was daunting at first - but when I gave it a go it wasnt as bad as I imagined that it would be.

My suggestion would be to give walking with the students a go. I wouldnt worry about not being able to run - I cannot run yet. You may find that it is not as daunting as you imagine.

If you find it too hard - you can always not try it again until the new students arrive.

If I hadnt tried to put my self-conscious feelings to one side I would be still indoors and would probably be bigger than my start weight now.

Well done for coming to terms with breakfast. We all struggle with our water. You may want to start a water challenge. Start a thread in challenges and see if anyone joins in. I probably would.

Take care
Love
Margaret
