hello my name is karen

im 46 years old and i weight 303lbs. i am only 4ft 11inches tall so im quiet over weight.

its causeing a lot of health issues. my doctor told me to either get gastric bypass or die.

he said i can't lose weight because im on to much insulin. he said dieting was useless

for me. but i decided to try dieting anyway as i can't afford gastric bypass.

i have lost 3 pounds so far. i would just like some people to talk with and help

motivate me and give me ideals on weight loss. i can't exercise because im to big.

i have trouble standing more than a few minutes.

Have a look into low GI (Glycemic Index) type diets. they should help insulin control which should help with weight control.

Hi Cherokee;

First of all, don't EVER let anyone, especially a health professional tell you that doing something other than gastric bypass is useless and that you'll die. Good grief...that's SO irresponsible!

I am 285 pounds and I am at the gym 5 days a week doing all kinds of exercise. I also swim. PLEASE do not get stuck in that rut where you give in and give up. I don't understand how you cannot exercise just b/c you take a lot of insulin....have you found this to be the case?

I would very much like to be a weight loss buddy and share some strategies and stories with you and get you to commit to one small change today. By doing even that, you are already improving your health, maybe just on the inside, but it WILL manifest on the outside.

Start by increasing your water intake, or decreasing any snacking 1-2 hours earlier than usual. Small steps, but an important journey.

Gastric bypass should be an absolute last resort. Your doctor appears to have poor bedside manner.

Anyways, I know others here will have some good advice for you as well, but I do hope you will add me as a friend, and perhaps we can figure out this together.

Thanks for coming here!

Happy New Year and Happy New YOU!
