O.D on whey?

read this

Training athletes often consume 25 grams of whey protein per day. Bodybuilders who want serious gains (and are burning serious calories), generally consume 150 grams per day. Extremely high doses of whey protein is not recommended, as this will cause the body's liver to be overloaded and you won't get the same benefits as with a consistent lower amount taken three to five times per day

I usually consume about 200 grams of whey a day!! do you think that this article is true. my comp froze so I couldn't get the link to the site that it was on.

i dont agree with any of it. if you can provide the link, we can see what proof they have regarding the liver. its known that with sane amounts of protein in healthy individuals with healthy kidneys, there is no evidence of problems.

and i dont agree with whey protein being taken 3-5 times a day. whey is a good protein but its been hyped up too much. thankfully, whey and casein are being tested head to head and the truth is coming out.

so what are your veiws on casein protein? I was going to purchase some of that becasue I heard that casein lasts longer than whey does. I have never had casein before though do you know if it's bitter? I kind of feel like all of these companies are just saying some of this crap to get more money. I do a lot of research and I don't want to go broke because of all of the claims they make about their products. I need a protein that is going to last a while because I work and I don't have a lot of time to eat so I rely on supps

oh well, they didnt provide any proof on that. now i dont doubt that someone somewhere can have a negative effect with something. but something to back their claims up would be nice

i believe more in casein because research shows that whey and casein can get the job done in a pwo situation

Tipton, K., et al. Ingestion of casein and whey proteins result in muscle
anabolism after resistance exercise. Med. Sci. Sports Exerc. 36: 2073-2081,
2004.

and in this one

Demling RH, DeSanti L. Ann Nutr Metab. 2000;44(1):21-9. Effect of a hypocaloric diet, increased protein intake and resistance training on lean mass gains and fat mass loss in overweight police officers.

they compared casein to whey and the results were "The milk protein/casein group lost almost 6.5 lbs. (3kg) more fat and gained nearly 4.5lbs. (2kg) more muscle than the whey only group. In addition, the milk protein/casein group had a 31% improvement over the whey only group in muscle strength"

according to true protein

Calcium Caseinate possesses a fairly bland taste. The mouth texture is fairly smooth but with all casein type proteins, they do possess a somewhat chalky mouth feel. Casein type proteins in general also have a much thicker consistancy than a whey might have, so mixing quantites should be less. It is also easily mixed in a shaker or blender.

I hardly ever see casein protein anywhere as far as online stores can you post a link where I can find some at a prety decent price?

Oh man, there are tons out there. Most will mix isolate and caseinate together.
