Not sweating like a pig anymore???

Hi Gang,

Just a few thoughts and questions, for the last 3 months I have strictly done indoor cycling for weight loss, after reaching my ideal weight, I just started adding free weights into my training every third day, which brings up my question. After getting used to sweating like a pig biking XX miles a session, I noticed I barely work up a sweat after an hour of free weights. Am I not pushing myself hard enough? I just don't feel as satisfied as I do after biking. I would really like to compliment my weight loss with more lean muscle mass, just not feeling the rush I do by doing a cardio workout. Any suggestions comments? I am not a noob to free weights, used to be a meat head in school. Not sure what to do, would really like to continue free weights in my overall routine. I apologize for the length of post, just frustrated.

I personally don't sweat much when doing weight training. Now put me on a bike for 10 minutes and its pouring.

I agree with Landonsbaby. BUT if i work with weight that I can do 15 reps with, perform slow reps, and take very little rest between sets I get warm fast. It may or may not work for you since you seem be more of an endurance person.

Some people sweat more than others. Our body sweats to cool itself down...some people get hotter than others. If you don't feel you're working hard enough, just work harder. There are plently of really difficult exercises out there for ya!

Thank you for the input, I think for now I may just continue my present routine as it is still working for me and I love it. I guess as it was stated I might just be more of an endurance type. Just to add a little twist I just posted a thread about whether or not they still sell ankle/wrist weights to add some more resistance to my routine anyone know? Prefer something not too bulky like the old school ones lol. Thanks again everyone the support is very much appreciated.:grouphug:

You are using much more and different energy to ride XX number of miles on your bike, than you are using when you lift free weights. There is no chance to stop and recover when you are riding. In a 45 minute spinning class, I come out with my shirt soaking wet. In the weight room on the other hand, I can be in there for 2 hours and barely break a sweat. If it is an endurance day though, that is a different story...
