Not Over Weight But Excessive Belly Fat Remains???

So im a 21 year old male. Im 5' 5" weigh about 140-145 pounds. Im no where over weight. Im active most days. I used to be a runner but not so much anymore. I try to eat healthy when I can. I weighed 140 when i was 16 and was also 5' 5". I havent changed except for my belly fat for some reason. I do drink alot on the weekends. What can I do to get back to a flat stomach. And dont say quit drinking or eat all fat free food. I mean maybe cut back on both but its impossible to do both in entirety.

You may not be "overweight" by the usual body mass index measure (BMI = 23.3 to 24.2), but if your waistline at your navel is more than half your height (32.5" if you are 65" tall), consider that a warning sign. Or you may want to get your body fat percentage measured.

In other words, you may not be overweight, but you may still be overfat. The latter is what is really important for being healthy. Being "overweight" but not overfat is generally not a problem, and could mean that you have lots of muscle, which is often desirable. But it looks like that is the opposite of your situation with the flabby belly.

By "active most days", what do you do? By "eat healthy when I can", what do you eat? If you are getting fat, then you probably need to be more active than you are now, and/or eat healthier than you are now. And that includes not binge drinking alcohol.

The BMI ISNT an accurate measurement of Body fat.

Lets use myself as an example. Currently I am at 8% body fat, and weigh 161 pounds. (Determined by DEXA)

According to this particular BMI calculator, after entering in my height/Weight, I have a fat percentage of: 25.2

I am considered over weight.

Let me check.......Nope......not even close.

that thing is a total joke. For me being 6'-3" 220 it says I'm morbidly obese.

I had to work on it to see what they say is ideal. That would be 6'-3" and like 170. Which to me is rail skinny. No thanks.

You really need to post more info for anyone to help you out. But I will say the drinking puts on the beer belly faster than anything.

soo whats some reccomendations. I started eating alot healthier and watching my calories and reducing the ammount I drink alot to just the weekends.

upon reading further I have come to the conclusion that I suffer from APT Anterior pelvic tilt. I have all the sympotoms and all my jobs in the past 5 years have involved driving/sitting for long periods of time. How do I correct this??

It may be easier for people to help if you posted what and how much you actually eat and drink, and what and how much exercise you actually do.

Ok firstly, no matter what your body fat % is or BMI, you have excessive abdominal fat which is the best predictor of CHD. Your going to have to start eating health, not necessarily less, and dedicate sometime to a form of exercise or increasing your incidental physical activity.

Your tilt can be correct by exercises focusing on strengthening your weak abdominal muscle. You may have to stretch your hip flexors to.
