Ok well this is my first post on a weight lost forum and looking for hints, tips and tricks that would help me in my pursuit of my goals. I work out regularly, but my problem is i really dont know how to eat right. I know that eating is one of, if not the biggest thing about losing weight. Before i babble on more about this, ill tell you alittle about myself. Im 22 (soon to be 23 Jan 2nd) at 6'3, im currently 245 lbs. Now before you say anything. Yes 245 lbs at 6'3 is not that bad, but......theres always a but, most of the weight isnt muscle. Its the other stuff. FAT! I know good workout routines and they do work well for building muscle. Im not really trying to build muscle, im trying to slim down a bit. my goal is to reach 210 lbs. Which is totally obtainable. (over time too, its not gonna fall off after one night)
Well my routines usually consist of alot of cardio, i have a boxing speed bag, boxing heavy bag, push up bars, pull up bar, ab slant bench, and limited free weights. I have the equipment to get my heart pumping to the point where its about to jump out my chest. I try to keep it in the 130 to 140 bpm to burn the most calories. Now to ask the real question. What would be a good solid diet where im not starving myself, but getting the proper nutrients ill need to slim down at the same time. Ive heard of counting calories and trying all these other techniques. Im wondering what is working for everyone else, cause obviously nothing is working for me. hope to hear something back.

Thanks
Dustin

Dustin,

Welcome to the forum.

What works for me is counting calories and trying to eat a balanced diet, based generally on the USDA food pyramid guidelines.

I agree with you that diet is the most important way of losing weight. I also do a moderate amount of cardio exercise and strength training, but that is mostly for reasons of general health and fitness, more than for the weight loss benefits.
