I am careful about sex, and everything involved with my partner, but I know there is always a chance of becoming pregnant.

No, I do not think I'm pregant, but I was wondering if there are any people that used to be bigger then lost it..but got pregant then.. did you get a lot of stretch marks or did it pretty much stay the same? I always wonder that. I was 179 pounds before losing weight, I had about...4 stretchmarks on my belly (now that are nearly invisible) but I really did gain a lottt of weight in my stomach.

Hoping that I eat right and gain the healthy 30-40 pounds in pregancy do you think I will get more stretchmarks? Beucase now I weigh 111 pounds..so if I gain 30-40 I still will be under what I used to weigh...
I also understand that baby is mostly belly sometimes but sometimes its EVERYWHERE. hahah I also still have flabby belly, and whenever I bend over and suck in its just saggy skin thats all wrinkley hahah.

Either way if I do get them at least they're marks of strength and courage. Any mommy who's out there congratulations on your babies! It is truely a beautiful thing!

I weighed about 190 when I got preggy(was 140 2 years before that) and I had some stretch marks before but they got a heck of alot worse when I was preggy. I got them on my hips, tummy, underarms, boobs, back. I hate them.It all has to do with the elasticity of your skin. Ask your mom. If she has alot of them its most likely that you will get them to. My mom also got attacked by them. Im just happy that two years later they are starting to fade. I do have a few purple ones that look like they are hear to stay : ( Im just planning on a tummy tuck when I hit my goal weight to get rid of any access skin/stretch marks.

Well, I'm sure it was all worth it.. beucase now you have a beautiful babyyyy =)

But my mom was bigger when she was younger..lost a lot of weight..then had my brother..I think she didnt get any with him but somehow got some with me? So I guess it just depends..luck of the draw! hahaha
I also heard with girls you tend to gain weight all over and with boys its usually all belly..but I think thats a little bit of a guessing game though too..

Well I already have stretch marks on my boobs, inner thighs, and stomach.. they just are all faded..so I guess only time will tell!

Thanks for your input and good luck with your little one! =) How old is he/she?

They are worth it.

He just turned two this month. Still working on getting rid of these last 10 baby weight lbs then I have to work on my fat I got before then LOL

60 more lbs to go...slowly but surely

When I was a teenager I weighed [at my heaviest] 180-185. I lost 50lbs at 17yrs old [I am 24 now] and have kept it off. I had some stretch marks but from working out they faded and or got a lot smaller, almost invisible. I got pregnant last year [had my baby in February] and right before giving birth I was 240lbs. I am now down to 180 [and still going]. I got a lot of stretch marks in my stomach. Some of them have faded already but the ones down on my lower belly are visible.

Chances are if your going to get them, your going to get them. When your pregnant your stomach stretches out so far it looks like its going to rip. Its a lot different than just gaining some pudge in the belly and losing it.

Stretch marks are hereditary, so there's not a whole lot you can do to prevent them. Creams and stuff might help them not be as bad, though.

I'm not sure about stretch marks being hereditary?

My mother got them all over her stomach for both pregnancies. I got none in either of my pregnancies.

If you are going to get them, well obviously you are going to get them. But you have a much better chance of minimizing them if you think carefully about what you are putting into your body, the exercise you engage in throughout your entire pregnancy and the skin treatments you do.

Most of my friends got stretch marks. But unlike me they did not watch everything they ate every single day, they did not exercise every single day.

It might not completely prevent all stretch marks but it makes a difference. It would also depend what kind of weight you were at when you began your pregnancy to some degree.

The whole hereditary thing as far as stretch marks is garbage. My mother got HUGE when she was pregnant with me and my sister and she does not have one, not even the tiniest of a stretch mark ANYWHERE on her body.... I got pregnant and well I was the complete opposite...

I agree with Shae... If your going to get them, your going to get them... and vise versa. You can reduce the risk of getting them by taking care of yourself and your body.

When I got pregnant with my daughter, I was 110lbs and hit 210 before it was all over. I got no marks on my belly, but plenty on my butt, hips, and boobs. All are barely noticable now though.

When I got pregnant with my 1st son, I weighed 186 (I gained 30lbs thanks to infertility stress and fertility drugs), topped out at 206, and got like 4 little stretch marks on my very lower belly (below my c-section scar, so eh...).

When I got pregnant with my 2nd son, I weighed 166lbs, topped out at 206, and did get a few more light stretch marks higher up, maybe 8-9 total.

I carried both my boys way lower than my girl, and I think that has a lot to do with getting the marks with them and not my daughter since I obviously gained a lot more wieh her than them.

My kids are 14, almost 3, and 9m. The ones from my daughter are VERY faint and if you didn't know they were there you wouldn't notice them. The ones from the boys are very faint. Not planning on wearing a bikini anyway due to still being pretty flabby, but I bet if I really wanted to (and could pull it off weight/tone-wise) I could next year.

i gained weighed, got stretchmarks started to lose weight, got more stretchmarks then got pregnant, hardly gained at all and didnt get any new stretchmarks but they got a bit redder, now its 2 months after my baby and they are fading and im losing weight again!

Strech marks are not hereditary. My mom had 3 pregnancies never had one, one of my sister's had 5 pregnancy and doesn't have any my other sister had 3 kids no strech marks and I had 2 kids and I am full of stech marks.

Just wanted to add my 2 cents re: stretchmarks. My mom got awful ones with my brother and I- they basically ruined her stomach, and she never did get a tummy tuck. I was terrified that the same would happen to me when I got pregnant, but I didn't get any on my stomach at all, and just a couple tiny ones on my hips. Luck of the draw I would say! (although I did use vitamin E body butter from the Body Shoppe throughout my pregnancy.)
