Hey all, I'm new on these forums. My name is Alexandra, I'm a 20 year old girl from Iceland. I live in Reykjavík, Iceland where I go to university, majoring in psychology.

I've always been a bit on the chubby side and like most, I've told myself many, many times that "this time I will lose the weight!", but, as for many others, nothing happened.

Well, after the holiday season of 2008, I found my old favorite pair of jeans (and by old, I don't even mean a year), after having lost them for a few months. Well, my fat ass could not fit inside those jeans!! I used to wear them DAILY not more than 6 months ago. So I dragged said fat ass on a scale for the first time in a loooong time and the numbers, well, let's just say they weren't all that fabulous. I then weighed 80 kg, which I think, roughly, is somewhere around 160lbs, and I'm not liking it :)

So I'm on a mission to lose it, and this time, it's for real. I know that I've said that before, but this time it IS real, because this time I've actually been showing up to the gym (almost every week-day, working on going there more often), and I'm doing a lot of exercise at home (I've got weekly number goals going on as to how many crunches, leg lifts, etc) and my body ACHES!!!

So, basically, this time it is ON. And I found this site and decided that I'd join and see if it didn't give me the extra boost and support that I needed, plus, I'm sure I'll meet a lot of nice people :)

Tomorrow, I'm facing a mountain of a challenge. Literally. My body might be aching right now after all that exercise today, but after tomorrow, it'll be worse, I'm going mountain hiking (Icelandic mountains.. let's just say they don't mess around:p) and I can't wait for it :)

Has anyone had the same experience as me, time and time again I say I'm gonna get fit and lose the weight, I do exercise, but I don't like it.. This time, I feel like there's something missing if I don't do any exercise during the day! It's nice :)

Here's what I've been doing for the past few weeks:
Almost every weekday: I work out at the University Gym. Just a bit of warm up, then free weight lifting, work on upper body every other day and lower body the remaining days. I also do floor exercises, like ab exercises and such.
Every single day: I do a s..load of exercises at home
Weekends: I try to do some mountain hiking and swimming

Anyway.. That's a whole lot of information in a short introduction post, I'm gifted with the ability to ramble on and on, so sorry about that. Nice to meet you all :)

Hey Alexandra. Welcome to WLF. Mountain hiking sounds fun. I haven't been hiking since I've been like...eh, I don't know, like 8 years old? God, I'm so lazy.

Anyway, nice to have you here. I hope you enjoy your stay.

Hey there! I think that happens to many of us too, we continually start "diets" and then don't stick to them.

BUT, then something clicks in our heads, and we all of sudden become more serious then we have ever been before! :D

Awesome job, I think your exercise routine is great! I would love to have some mountains, or even really large hills, to hike.

You should come visit me. I'm right at the beginning of the Appalachian Mts. and have many hiking trails at my doorstep.

i think the most important thing to remember...
is that this isnt just a diet. its the beginning of the rest of our lives.
i know alot of people who have lost alot of weight but then go back into their
lazy overeating routines... =T

haha and i know what you mean about the "im totally going to lose it this time!" thing. =P
i have started lots of times... but i would try to change too much at once... and become overwhelmed and then quit D:
this time i started out slowly and guess what i didnt quit after my usual 3 days... hehe...
ive been going for 5 1/2 weeks and im feeling soooo much better about myself =D my body is changing.

ooh and hiking sounds like soooo much fun!
