Noob looking to lose post-pregnancy weight!

I posted this in the New Mom forum, but I don't really think anyone really reads that forum :)

I'm brand new to this forum, hoping everyone can help me stay motivated and give me advice on my weight loss!

I just had my baby girl November 3rd, 2007 via C-section! Not quite sure my pre-pregnancy weight, thinking it was somewhere between 150-155.. Was 185 the day I was induced. So far I have lost 27 pounds in the 2+ months post-pregnancy, mostly baby weight (she was almost 9 pounds) and all the other fluids that come out during the lovely birthing process.

I am 5'8" and looking to be a nice healthy 140 asap! (Wasn't quite happy with the weight I was at before I even got preggers.) I am 158 at the moment, only 18lbs to go!

Currently I am getting up every morning before the hubby goes to work and do about 35 mins of cardio, little bit of abs, and little bit of weights, and trying to watch what I eat.. (but it's so hard!) Any advice on good workouts would be appreciated! Would like to lose weight in the mid-section and thigh area!

Thank you in advance!

Here's me 7+ months prego, will shoot some more pics soon!

Hey there Jacquelyn,

welcome to the WLF forum. First off, your babygirl is absolutely darling! She's a doll! Congrats with having the motivation to wake up early and get in your cardio/ weight training. As for wanting to tone up your thighs and midsection, unfortunately we can't spot reduce. You'll lose weight overall, so just keep to cardio/ weight training.

Here are a few tips that may make your stay here at the forum easier/ enjoyable:

1. start up a diary to keep yourself accountable with your workouts/ meals
2. peek in other diaries for tips
3. if you're looking to count calories, check out or for free cal counters
4. don't be afraid to ask questions. There are wonderful people who are always willing to help.

Well, I hope to see you active around the forum, girl. Good luck!

Thank you, she is pretty damn cute isn't she :D.. Sad thing is, she looks nothing like me. Spitting image of her Dad!

I appreciate the advice, I'm trying my hardest with what I got.. An hour to myself every morning at the gym, and staying home all day with a house full of food.. it's killer! haha

I will make sure to ask you if I have any questions!

Welcome and Gratz on you baby girl!

It's wonderful that you get in some cardio everday! I hear squats are great for butt/thigh, and good ole' crunches/situps for abs . . but I'm no expert.

Good Luck!
