No Soreness in the muscle

If I don't get soreness in the muscle that I am working, does it mean it's a fruitless workout?

I lift weights only for toning up the muscles. I do weights 3 times a week during the nights and jog 5 times a week in the mornings. Is this OK?

Thanks in advance..

Thanks tenkst.

Yes I lift light weights with more reps. Since I don't get sore I was wondering if I need to change the weight training pattern.

If you are achieving what you want otherwise there is no reason to change your workouts. The old "No Pain/No Gain" philosophy is only correct if you are trying to add maximum skeletal muscle in the minimum time. For long term fitness and health using lighter weights and not pushing yourself to the pain stage is much more beneficial. Using heavier wieghts and pushing for maximum muscle mass and strength will eventually result in injury and joint pain.

Soreness is not required for muscular gains. Your workout schedule sounds nearly flawless. 3 times of resistance training a week and 5 times of cardio is ideal. I do not always get sore after my workouts either, but I still have gains. Once again though, that workout shchedule looks very good.
