Hi everyone,
I am a 16-year-old guy with a weight of 81.3kg and 6 feet 1 inch tall.
I wanted to get thinner and reveal my abs this quarantine period and for that, I have been working hard for more than a month now. Initially, I lost some inches but after a week or two, my progress has stagnated. I watched so many youtube videos and tried to implement them in my life.

Exercise-
Usually I workout in the morning for one-hour combining floor exercises and resistance training. I do HIIT on alternate days or every 3 days.
I have a few pieces of gym equipment at my place and I use them. I also do a lot of floor exercises for abs.
In addition, I have started running every evening (replacing walking which I did for the first month). I have gained muscles but I can't seem to lose fat. I can only see my upper 2 abs.

Diet-
I track my meals on a calorie counting app and I am following intermittent fasting (16/8) for the past 5 days. Normally my eating habits aren't very unhealthy either. Very very rarely I have any junk food and I always eat in a caloric deficit. I have cut down on all sugar for the past 2 months.

Working hard and making so many compromises and still yielding no results is very disheartening.
Any and all help is appreciated. I will be happy to provide information as you require.

Thank you

Hey You, welcome to the forum!

From what you say you are losing fat, with your exercise and a calorie deficit you have to be. That doesn't always translate to weight loss, not quickly, your body is probably losing fat but adding a few pounds of water. That can happen when you start exercising, the muscles will take on more water. After a time it will come back out and you will lose the weight.

You can probably get advice from people here more knowledgeable than I. To do that I suggest you start a diary on the Weight Loss Diary page (https://weight-loss.fitness.com/forums/weight-loss-diary.9/ ) tell us a bit more about yourself, particularly your diet and calorie count and your goals. You will get more attention and help that way.

Best of luck to you!

Hi, Youdee, and welcome to the forum. I won't give any advice, because I am quite unqualified, but it occurs to me that at 16 years you might still be growing, which would be bound to have an impact on weight loss and body shape.
Good for you for ditching junk food and useless sugars.

Hi, YouDee & welcome to the forum. Well done on making the most of a difficult time. At 16 you are still growing & if you continue to eat healthily & exercise I'm sure you will get fitter & fitter. You may not need to lose much weight. Keep doing what you're doing if you enjoy it & try not to be so focussed on having that "perfect" body. Most of the images you see of those "perfect" abs are either of absolutely obsessed people or are photo-shopped.

Not to mention that they usually take years of consistent work to achieve. Seeing effect after only two weeks is great but it's quite normal for progress not to stay consistently perfect every week.

at 73" and 179 lbs, you are at the high end of a healthy BMI. losing a pound when you are at a BMI =30 is much easier than trying to lose a pound at a BMI of 24. it is great to hear about someone your age being concerned about their nutrition. quitting or at least dialing way back on sugar is a good step in the right direction. another factor.... you should stick to the IF for a while longer... a week to 10 days is the minimum time to typically see a change on the scale.
