No more fooling myself, time to get a grip of my life...

First of hello to anyone reading this.

Right the time has come to get a grip and change my life for the better, I'm 28 and weigh around 35 stone [500 pound], give or take a little. Don't know exactly as the scales I have only go up to 32 stone. I did have a diary a few year ago under a different name but as I'm back It obviously went pete tong.

I have finally had enough of living the life I have for years, I'm nearly 30 and it's time too sort it out now because if I don't do it now I could be dead in 5-10 years [if I'm lucky] and no one wants that obviously. So as of this last sunday just gone [11-01-09] I had my last drink as I drank way to much verging on the border of a alcoholic if I'm honest with myself. Then after drinking the binging on the take outs and the likes start.

Tonight was the first night I have gone out and done any exercise for along long time, only walked half a mile round the block but it's a start and I was pleased to have finally started to do it. I wont lie and say it was easy as I had to have a little 10 second rest half way round as my back started to thrash but i got round.

Food wise I used to eat loads of crisps and pastry things, and take aways like the fish and chip shop was the worst as some weeks I would have it 4-5 times a week, plus that would lead me to have 3 rounds of bread and butter with the chips, never been a big fan of sweet foods though.

Food wise from now on, although I am going to allow myself a cheat meal once a week, I'm going to eat fish once a week, homemade veg pizza, tuna pasta bake and a few times a week I will have 6 or 7 veg and chicken for my main meal, plus I can look for some new healthy recipies to ad to my meals. For snacks I'm going to have fresh fruit and low fat yougarts, crackers, crab sticks, istead of crisps pastys chocolate, and sandwiches.

Worked it out and the calories I'll be eating a day work out about 1500 aday might be a little to less but we will see. I don't feel like it's to less as I'm not hungry but have noticed last couple days I have had a little bit off a head ache, dont know if that anything to do with the food intake or cutting the alcohol out. I have uped my water intake to about 3 litres.

Thats it for now.

welcome to the forum :) at 500lb are you sure your not cutting calories too much to begin with ?

Thanks for the welcombe. It might be, think I might ad a extra banana or other fruit and a yougart and maybe some more crackers to my daily eating to bump it up to about 1800

Been sticking to it well, not gone of track once, although it has only been since last weekend, but if I stick to it like I am then it can only go one way. Went for me walk today and didn't have to stop once witch I was pleased about. My back still killed walking but it will get better in time if I carry on the way I am going I'm sure.

Going to have a read of other peoples diarys now

Id be careful about cheat meals. Ive always found that after one I always think its okay to have a little bit more junkfood, since a whole meal didnt do any harm. It messes with my mentality and always leads to the downfall of my healthy diets.

Besides that, youve got a great plan! :)
Keep going, Im sure the weight will come off easily if you stick to your plan!

Thanks, I know what your saying about the cheat meal, not ad one yet and not felt like one, but one thing I have just done is a calorie check and this is what it said

• You'll need at least 4,155 calories to maintain your current weight and activity level.
• Of this, 3,195 calories are required to meet your body's basic energy needs. That amount (your resting energy expenditure) is what you'd use up if you did nothing but lie in bed all day.

• To lose about one pound per week, you'll need to cut back to 3,655 calories per day.

To be honest even when I wasn't eating healthy and eating junk I dont think I ate 4000 odd calaries, well with the alcohol it would of been, thing is I'm happy with what I'm eating now still got headache though, so it might be due to not eating enough,

So then after reading other peoples diarys and I have had a rethink on my calories intake
and tried to work out what will be best for me and I'm now going to go for 2500 ish a day in stead of 1500 what does seem low concidering my size, this is what I came up with and yes before I would of easily been eating over 3000 - 4000 when I think about it, they soon ad up

10 - 11 AM

2 pouched eggs on 2 toast with beans = 710

or
Cornflakes and 2 toast = 710

2 - 3 PM

2 brown salad cobs and backed crisps = 600

or
Heinz big soup and 2 brown cobs = 300 - 350

6.30 - 7 PM

Veg and chicken = 750

or
Home made chicken curry and brown rice = 800

or
Depending on wether I have had the soup or cobs Chips or salad
Home made veg pizza = 800
- oven chips = 450
- or salad

or
Fish parsley sauce and spuds = not sure

or
Tuna pasta bake

SNACKS

3 crab sticks = 60
5 crackers = 200

= 2500 ish a day

Glad to see that you re-evaluated the calories, that frightened me when you said 1500!

Congrats on deciding to take care of yourself and concentrate on your well being, and awesome job on getting those walks in. They add up and you'll be feeling better so soon :)

One more thing I have wanted to sort out and did last night is get in bed before 2 am, as I always never go bed before 5 am normaly, and last night I did it, turned pc and tv off and got in bed, set my alarm fot 11 am, as thats the lastest I want to get up now as I was getting up at 12 1, I have been known to sleep in till 3-30 pm some times, so justgetting a grip of that will help as well. good news I never needed the alarm today and woke up at 10-15 am

well just got back from walk and me back was killin, bad and my right thigh felt a little numb whilst walkin, but i did it and its better to put up with small pains now, as it is all help for the long term
