No, I am NOT pregnant!

Hello! My name is Amanda, I am 26 years old, and quite a few people ask when my baby is due. Funny that, since I'm not pregnant! I was very thin in high school, but the all-you-can-eat dining in the college dorm was the beginning of my downfall. I'm a real sucker for pop, pizza, lattes, and bread. Also, I'm a full-time law student, so I sit on the couch studying all day. My exercise mainly consists of walking through the grocery store buying unhealthy things to cook.

Beginning tomorrow, I'm going to begin eating healthy and exercising. I'm not looking forward to it at all. I really want to do this, but I honestly don't know how I will stick to it after years of unhealthy habits. I'm hoping to meet some people with the same goals that can help keep me accountable (and I can do the same for them). Any takers?

Hey! I totally understand where you're coming from! Being a college student, we have crazy classes and the dining hall food was easy since it was always available. It happens to all of us. :) Good luck on your journey!

I joke around about my little pooch on my tummy. I tell people it's my food baby. :)

Hi Amanda,

I'm in the same situation as you. What you've said about university, meal plans at residences, and uncertainty about your dedication to weight loss all sounds very familiar! I'd love to have someone to give encouragement to and receive support from. I think accountability has been a big issue in the past for me. Once I lose a few pounds I get lax with my diet/exercise plan and the weight creeps back on...I really want to break that cycle!

I know exactly what you mean! It is almost impossible to stick to a diet long term without some sort of accountability! Weight Watchers has been a great source of accountability for me. Every time I stopped going to meetings, I started gaining weight. My membership ran out a few months ago, and I have been trying to lose weight on my own, but it has been very difficult. I am planning on registering again next week!

I've had people offer up their seats on the subway for me, so I feel your pain. I too was rail think in High School, but not anymore.

This is a good place for motivation, hopefully you will have enough motivation to stick with it. Think of it as a lifestyle change instead of a diet.

Tomorrow is today...

What's your plan?

And while tomorrow is another day may have worked for Scarlet O'Hara - it's not a good mindset to have -you can correct any missteps the very next meal -the very next moment... Tomorrow might never come ...

I gained all my weight with my first pregnancy in my last year of highschool. 6 months later I ran into someone at a race track and they were like "so when are you going to have that baby" I almost didnt want to admit my baby was already 6 months old, honestly i was still wearing my maternity clothes because i had nothing else to fit me but damn one of my first realisations that i had gotten very very fat... besides the picture of me laying beside my baby looking like a mother cow... my first shocking experience...i deleted that picture... now i wish i had kept it...

Someone asked me when is the baby due once. That got me so depressed, so I decided i needed to change. Your going to do great. I am in school as well. I like to make sure I have a lot of healthy snacks on hand. Also if I cant really have a full work out, I always make sure I go out for a 30 min walk. Keep us posted!

Count me in. I am going to do the same thing as you. Off to the gym to workout for about an hour of cardio (slowly for the first time out).
