No Gym

I'm trying to do my exercise without the gym. A couple of my exercise DVDs such as the Firm and Michelle Dozois use a total body work out with weights. Is this sufficient enough or do I need to get more serious with the weights? I'm trying to lose about 25 pounds.

Many people lose weight by exercising at home, and if you need or want guidance, then fitness DVD's are great! I use them and they do work if you are consistant. My mom had lost a lot of weight - 50 pounds maybe? - and toned up nicely just by doing the Firm. She claims the older ones work better than the new ones, but I like them both.

The important thing to remember is to just keep doing it! Good luck :)

I think that most of the dvds are quite good and cheaper than a gym, unless of course you want to build muscle then a gym is best, well one with weight machines.

I think your workout sounds good, but that much exercise with less than 1000 calories is a bit :puke:

I'd try having over 1000.

you don't need to go to a gym, simple stay active at your home. Run around or ride around your neighborhood to keep losing weight. Another idea is to do the household chores at a high intensity, eg lawn mower. Get out there and push that thing around.

Also keep an eye on your diet and stay committed. The rest will follow.

I hate gyms!

I shed 28 lbs in six weeks (18st 7lbs down to 16st 7lbs) by:

- walking 2 to 5 miles a day
- reducing food intake by about 25%
- reducing any high fat/sugar foods by about 50%
- green tea (only used for the six weeks)
- always eating a good breakfast
- always trying to get a good night's sleep (7 to 8 hours)

That was three months ago and the weight has stayed off - even over Christmas with an element of over indulgence.
I will be starting the next 28lbs as soon as the weather improves enough to allow comfortable walking.
This was a slimming formula given to me by a therapist friend who helps depressed and stressed slimmers.
