So Ive never been good at the whole keeping a diary thing but I figured Id give it a try here... I never know if your supposed to write it as if youre talking to someone or just ramble on or what lol. My main problem is the whole eating right thing I mean its not like Im eating a few double cheese burgers everyday but I try to stay within 1200 calories and I seem to have a hard time doing that or just by the end of the day stop counting all together and most days I dont eat all the meals I should either... I figured Id go ahead and answer some basic questions so yall know a little something about me and so I can look back at it in the future and see how far Ive come!

My 1st small goal is to be to 225 lbs by the 4th of July, for 1 its the 4th of July and my family gets together and obviously its Summer so Id like to loose weight for that and my boyfriend whos currently serving in Afghanistan gets back sometime in late July so Id like to look a lot different for him when he returns!
What obstacles could get between you and your weight loss goals? My family is good at being supportive and telling me Im doing great but not so good at cooking the right foods or giving me time to workout
Why do you think that you now have a weight problem? Because Ive always been overweight and I ate instead of dealing with problems and my feelings
What lifestyle changes do you think would help you lose weight? Eating alot healthier and getting into running... I really want to get into it so some day I could possibly run a marathon

Do you have rewards for certain goals? Not really no

If you made it through all that Im surprised lol but I feel good answering all those questions honestly, I feel like it will motivate me more!

Today was my nephews 4th bday party(which makes me feel kinda old lol) so it was kind of hard to watch what I ate but I had a cheeseburger made with 85% lean hamburger that was cooked with a George Forman grill so most of the grease was drained off and a few potato chips with dip which suprisingly only had 120 Calories for 2 tbsp and I had a really small sliver of cake, so I know Im still within the 1200 calories but I dont know exactly how many... then when I got home 1 had 2 cups of Chex Mix which my mom ripped the nutritional facts off by accident so Im not sure how many that was either... but I probably wont eat anything else today so I should be alright although I know the food I ate is inside the 1200 calories its still not the best food for you.

Tonight I walked/jogged on the treadmill for 45 mins going up and down in speeds from 3.3mph to 3.7mph and went a total distance of 2.624 miles.

I hope this diary will help to keep me on track and motivate me along the way, if you made it through all this any motivational tips or advise or just words of wisedom would be great!

Well yesterday wasnt such a good day... I ate well but totally passed out before I even had a chance to work out!

I ate an apple for breakfast, a ham and cheese sandwich and 2 100 calorie packs for lunch and 1/2 a skinless boneless chicken breast baked and half a baked potato with cheese for dinner so I stuck to eating good but I feel asleep about 10 pm with the lights on and my contacts in and everything before I had even worked out... I waited really late to work out because I watched a movie and then layed down to talk on the phone and never got back up!

But today I already fell off the wagon and ate a ranch snack wrap grilled and a small fry from Mcdonalds but tonight Ill be eating a really healthy dinner and Ill be walking/jogging on the treadmill for twice as long to make up for not working out last night and eating not so good today!

Hi well done on the weight loss so far :)
Try not to beat yourself up if you fall off the wagon (which we all do from time to time) just get straight back to your healthy lifestyle and try and make up for it a little bit over the next couple of days. Looking forward to reading your diary over the coming months.
Val

Hey Nikki!!! Thats it - positive thinking!
Just because u had a bad moment - it doest have to ruin all your efforts so far.
For me it always helps - when i m tempted in the chocolate aisle (hence i usually avoid it) - that : I have been doing so well! why should i throw away what i achieved?!
So keep on going! you can do it! :)

Thanks Justina! Im def not gonna let the bad moments get me down Im just gonna push myself harder when I workout tonight so I can get all that I can out of it!

Hey Nikki, well done on starting this weight loss diary, that's a big step towards achieving your goal. If you keep at it, and stay honest when posting your daily goals and accomplishments, you'll keep yourself focussed and motivated.

You've already accomplished a 30lb loss, so you're obviously well motivated. I must say one thing though don't try to stay within 1200 cals, that is way below what you should be eating at your weight and your body will be storing the fat as it's in starvation mode. You should get maybe 1800 cals per day, split up in 5-6 smaller meals per day at intervals of 2-3 hours. That way your metabolism will adjust accordingly and stop storing the fat. In addition, I noticed you had a treadmill, try interval training it's said to burn more fat. To start with try 20mins at these intervals: 2mins walking 4mph, 1 min jogging 6mph, 1min walking 4mph, 1min jogging 6mph, 2min walking 4mph, 30 seconds jogging 6.5mph, 2.5 mins walking 4.5mph, 1 min jogging 6.5mph, 1 min walking 4mph, 1 min jogging 6.5mph, 3 mins walking 4mph, 3 mins jogging 5.5mph, 1min walking 4mph. That's twenty mins, then walk 5mins at 3mph to warm down and make sure you stretch properly afterwards.

Make sure you have some good music that motivates you and that you know all the words to, that's how I get through my treadmill sessions.

Anyway, best of luck to you, I hope you stick at it. Your boyfriend is a brave man, any man who serves in the army is a TRUE HERO, and a better man than myself.

Thanks for the advise Davey_Sprockett... Ill def try the Intervals like you stated and see how it goes it sounds pretty intense! LOL! I dont know about the whole 1800 calorie thing tho I understand what your saying and it makes sense but 1800 just seems like too many calories! When I first started this journey back in Aug and had all that success I stuck to the 1200 calories and the treadmill and it worked great so Im almost scared to go up in calorie intake! Also Thank you for the motivational words for me and the nice things you said about my boyfriend!

Hey Nikki, cheers for the reply, don't be scared to go up in calories, as long as you increase your exercise rate it won't even be that much of a calorific increase. The key here is to increase your workouts as much as you feel comfortable with. The intervals I suggested were just a rough guideline, If you feel thats too much, decrease each interval by half a mile per hour. Just work gradually towards improving your general level of fitness, and worry less about the weight loss. If you improve your athletic ability, the weight loss will come easy.

I try to push myself harder everyday with how fast Im going on the treadmill or how long Im actually jogging instead of just walking fast! Thank you for being so supportive! Im really glad I found this place it really motivates me to see how other people are doing and all the advise Im getting!

Well I pushed myself even harded tonight to make up for the not working out last night and the not soooo healthy eating earlier today! I walked/jogged for 75 mins for a total of 4.402 miles! I feel pretty good about that!

Its 168 more days until my small goal of 225 by the 4th of July... I wonder if Ive lost any yet! I get to weigh in on Jan 30th and then every 2 weeks after that and I cant wait to see the scale!

I dont know if any of you watch MTV but theres this show on there called I used to be fat and they always have this count down thing in their rooms hanging up so I made myself one of those little charts it says DAYS TO GO 168 for anyone that hasnt seen the show and then I tear a page off everyday! I feel like it really motivates me and keeps me on track knowing that I want to reach my goal by then and that Ill be that much closer to my love coming home!

Well Im off to go find something healthy for dinner! Wish me luck!

I love what the other wlf member said, "just try to increase general fitness". You remind me of me. Relying too much on slashing calories and walking and not enough on other measures of fitness. There is so much to learn. I enjoy your diary and hope you keep writing. Looks like you've got a great coach there already! Learn as much as you can from him!

i totally relate to your calorie counting dilemmas Nicki. all of my entries to the sites and programs that count your calories say i eat an average of like 600 per day because i enter my breakfast, maayyyybe my lunch, and rarely ever enter my dinner. lol its so hard to measure and keep track of. dinner is complicated meal ;) i hear your pain. lol

I def am just trying to get in shape Im not totally worried about the # on the scale Im more worried about being healthy and happy with myself! Thanks for the support, all and any advise is welcome! Ill take as many coaches as I can get! LOL

Lol thanks Katie for understanding where Im coming from! Its good to have someone to relate to!

Well last night for dinner I ended up having a sandwich with left over chicken breast with a little bbq sauce and it was delicious! And not totally unhealthy for you!

Im looking forward to staying on track today and working out soon!

Today was a good day! I ate a poptart for breakfast, a taco salad and an apple for lunch and a pizza lean cuisine and peach for dinner!

I walked/jogged for 60 minutes today for a total of 3.5 or 3.6 miles lol I cant remember exactly! It seems to be getting easier and I feel like my body is changing! I cant weight to weigh in on the 30th!

Wow so Ive been kinda MIA! I had a pretty busy weekend with my niece and 2 nephews here for the whole weekend and I didnt get to work out much but we did play Just Dance 2 on the Wii which does get you moving and I stayed healthy with what I was eating!

Today was a good day though I walked/jogged for 90 minutes for a total of 5.2 miles, it felt really good!

Oh and I actually got to weigh in today a week earlier then expected and I lost 3 more lbs which makes me pretty happy! 3 lbs in a week will hopefully get me to my goal by the 4th of July!

Hey Nikki - geez you're racking up some miles there, great job!
I think your countdown calendar is a cool idea. It must be so hard to have him away like that... just think how awesome you'll be looking when he sees you next!

Just wanted to show my support, I'm the same - this forum has helped so much with keeping me motivated. Everyone's so nice :)
