Hello!

First of all, I would like to congratulate you all! Everyone on here seems so nice, and the weight loss stories are very inspiring!

I'm going to start a diary, because on the 5th of July, I'm going to enter the point of no return. Hopefully, this will be my last time on the Atkins diet. No more sliding off! I have quit going to the Y for over a month now, and have completely pigged out on fast food. Thank goodness I haven't gained much since then- But I'm ready to put my life back on track. I'll update this more when I start- The more I look at this site... The less and less I am dreading July 5th- Infact, I'm starting to look forward to it!

Hello and welcome Nightporter. You make a good point, because I too think I enjoy dieting and look forward to doing healthy things because of this forum. I think if I had to do it on my own without the support of people going through the same thing...I don't think I could do it. In fact, I haven't been able to do it.

So glad you are here and we can all do this together!!!

Welcome, Nightporter! I like your attitude. I loved the 80's...those were good times. I highly recommend Sirius Radio if you don't have it. They have big 80's station you would love. Take care. Good Luck to you.

Hope you can forgive me for not visiting your diary before now :( and if ya can, smile :) that I got a front row seat for your journey.

Atkins would've been my choice of diet had I not been a diabetic. Who wouldn't like a diet where you can eat and eat and eat not to mention it's all tasty, tangible, you-know-you-put-something-in-your-belly foods.

I'm excited for you to get on with your re-commitment and not accepting 'I lost' attitude on your earlier attempt(s) I can't imagine there isn't a person on here that knows just how hard it is to lay down the fast foods. Just know I give a huge amount of success to my diet working due to that fact that I have a zero tolerance policy in affect for fast foods and trust me, I could drive to Mickey D's and have a 3 sausage biscuit breakfast as we speak. I can't. I won't. It's just not an option. I'm not sure if there is a complete cure for craving the fast foods other than not wanting to weigh 371 lbs again but that's the mental string I have tied around my brain. It keeps me in check on an everyday basis.

Well you just inherited a 'Diet Daddy' whether you like it or not and you know I'm here for you on your journey as long as you'll tolerate my annoying butt *nag nag nag* :p
You're too special for me to pull out the 'tough love' card but do know I carry that option in my bag of tricks ;)

I think you'll be just fine.

Rock out with your Atkins out !!

80's love from 'Big Daddy' T2.

Hey Nightporter! How's it been going? I'm glad you started a diary! ^^ I can't wait till I read your update so I can see how you're doing. I understand why you don't like meat now. Some years ago my mom and I stopped eating meat, and at first I liked it, and I felt less weighed down, not to mention cleaner and such. (If that makes any sense...) Anyways, Keep up the good work!

NP, welcome and congrats on starting your diary!!! With us in your corner and your awesome attitude you can't fail! :D

Hello!

Sorry I haven't posted anything- I didn't realise I received so many replies on my diary! Thank you all for the kind words, I really appreciate it- And Trucker you make me smile! Thanks! :)

Well, this is my second day on the Atkins diet. I have gone on really strict and have given up 3 things completely: Sugar, Carbs, and Caffeine. The first day I started I felt fine until later that night. I started feeling aweful, and I almost snuck out of the house to get myself a large Brownie Blast blizzard at DQ (one of my favorite things!) But at the last second, I decided I would NOT do that. Because, I knew if I did it that time, I knew I would do it over and over... So I nipped it in the bud, and though I am still craving sugar- NO MORE SUGAR!!

The withdrawl has been horrible. Today I woke up at 2 PM and I hurt all over. I crave my caffenated diet coke all of the time, Pizza, and blizzards... Plus my brother and mother aren't on the diet, so seeing them walk around with chocolate milk and grilled cheese doesn't help either. Again, the withdrawl from these things are killing me! I feel like I have the flu almost, and I have been stumbling around all day. I hope this all goes away!

I am planning on returning to the Y in a few days... Dr. Atkins says in his book that the fatigue, cravings, withdrawel etc. should clear up in a few days and be replaced by a sudden burst of engery- I hope he is right!

For now, I'm just going to stick to my meat and salad and hope for the best! Whenever I feel like sneaking out to get a blizzard, I just look at this site for a good whack in the face to wake me up... Get a blizzard?!? I must be kidding!!

Thank you all again for the kind words and welcomes!

Glad you came back!

As much as I love sugar, I can't imagine what the full-on caffeine withdrawal would be like. I get a headache by noon during the day if I don't have my coffee. Great job on opting not to get the blizzard. I'm sure you will feel better in a couple of days. Just keep telling yourself it will pass.

hey nightporter. I was on atkins before my last surgery. It took me about 4 days of feeling really bad before it cleared up. I did start feeling better and the appetite did calm down where i wasnt eating quite so much. You might want to pick up some one a day carb smart. It seems to really help with the ikey feeling...

Hello!

Thank you for your kind words, Pineola- And congratulations on losing 12 pounds so far!

Hillbillylee- Thanks for the advice! I totaly forgot about the Carb Smart one-a-day's I'm going shopping tomorrow so I'll have to pick some up!

Thanks again!

Awww dang -N- sorry I missed ya :(

Glad to see you back here and going after the good fight.

I'm all kindsa proud of ya for passing on the nasty ol' Blizzard.

In fact you earned this View attachment 1119

No caffeine ya say ? OUCH

Me and Mr Atkins couldn't get along very well without my 'feine, but he's dead and I'm not so I guess that's a non-issue.

You tell those pizza-toting, unassuming family members to step off or we're paying them a visit with the Twiny Stick™

Ya hear me ??!!

Rock on -N-

Family

I've said it before, and I'll say it again. Families - you can't live with 'em; you can't smother 'em with pillows and stuff 'em in a deep freeze. ;)

Hey, good job avoiding temptation. You really are the only person you can control in this world. Sometimes our loved ones support us, and sometimes they get in our way. But you know where you can turn for support, and you can get through the temptations one at a time until you reach your goals. We all have each other to help along the way!

Hey -N-, don't worry, you'll be feeling great in no time. Thanks for posting in my journal, it helped a lot. I'm proud you didn't go get that brownie blizzard! Sometimes family members can be so annoying when your trying to change your life. *shakes head* But don't worry, just try your best to ignore 'em. Soon they'll notice how much happier you are, and how much better you look, and they'll be jealous! *Grins* Anyways, Keep up the good work!

Hello!

Thank you guys again for posting! It means a lot to me!

My father is on the diet with me too... But we dont really relate because he's always been in love with meat! My bro came up with a new nickname for me. "Stretch-marky-fatty-o" My parents think it's pretty freakin funny. But I guess I can't complain since this whole family is guilty of dishing out the insults to each other, including me!

I have seen this on a lot of other diaries, and figure I should post what I have been eating. If I even remember!

Breakfast
-3 eggs scrambled topped with mexi-cheese
-Diet caffeine free 7 up

Lunch
-Meat slices
-Smoked tuna wrapped around cream cheese
-Diet Caffeine free rite, Strawberry Kiwi flavor

Dinner
-Buffalo Chicken dipped in blue cheese dressing
-1 bowl of spinach salad topped with alfalfa sprouts, bacon bits, cheese, and Ceaser dressing.
-Earl Grey tea- Sweetened with Splenda
-Glass of water

Midnight Snack:
-2 small left over buffalo chicken strips dipped in blue cheese

I hope I have been keeping it under 20 carbs! I haven't really been counting but nothing I ate was over 2 carbs a piece. My bro and my mom had grilled cheeses with Tomato soup and chocolate milk for dinner- It was very tempting especially since I am not a big fan of buffalo chicken. But I stuck to it anyway! I even went to the store tonight and bought my bro a bag on M&M's and didn't get anything for myself!

Next, comes the excersize which I'm clueless about! Last time I went to the Y a few months ago, I felt as if I wasn't doing enough. I would tire out so quickly and without even breaking into a sweat! I would just be cool and tired. Does anyone have any good work out routines that work well? I want to push myself harder, but I'm not quite so sure as how to go about that.

Well, That's that, and thank you very much, again, for posting!

-Nightporter-

Yeah! I read her thread, and WOW she has done an excellent job! I would definately think of getting it, except for the fact that the only TV in my house is right in the middle of my dang house... I know my family would be walking by making sarcastic insults all day long!

-Nightporter-

Oh yes, I forgot to add that I went to the drug store and bought some "Ketosticks" They're these things you urinate on and it shows how much fat you're burning. The levels are None, Trace, Small, Moderate, Large, and Very Large... So, earlier I did a little pee pee on a stick and I'm in Moderate! wOOt wOOt! I can only thank you all for being so much of an inspiration! You're support makes me a real go-getter on this diet... So, THANKS! *Hugs*

-Nightporter-

yea i forgot to tell you about those. I would see better results in the mornings. if it fades a little dont worry the smallest amount of carbs will offset the results. Think thats why so many cant stick to that diet.
