night time work out

ive been working out, lifting wieghts during the night for the past 2 years. I stop evey now and then and start over with my routine. Ive always wonderd if working out during the day or wieght lifting during the day is better then night or vise-versa. Which works better with results night or day?

Train when you can, most people will have more productice sessions 5+ hours after waking because the CNS is fresher or more awake for lack of a better work, not up on the science but that's the general rule of thumb.

But then on the flip side to that, your testosterone levels are higher after you wake up.

but I think thats anytime is a good time to train, as long as your eating well beofre and after your workout.

first i used to work out at night, but i figured that i was already tired at night, so i started working out in the morning, but again in the morning u have energy so it'll be easier to work out, but if u can do it at night, even when ur tired already, it will be a better work out.

A morning workout gets you going for the whole day. If I work out at night, I have problems falling asleep. Plus it was always too easy to say "What a tough day at work, all I wanna do is go home grab a beer and catch the game"

No excuses in the morning. I throw back a protein shake and get at it.

Is it true that right after you eat your like a certain % weaker? I tried doing pushups right after eating and it felt like i wasnt ready or something heh. Just felt a little different.

I feel the same way so i avoid eating b4 I work out, but I usually work out in the evenings. Mornings come to quick for me as it is. So I do everything in the evenings b4 I eat supper.

A general rule of thumb is to consume at least 3 meals before weight training.

Ive never read that before but it makes sence.
Ive always had my best workouts and recovered the best when I work out in the middle of the day.

Pickup an issue of this month's muscle & fitness.

There's a short article on some research, where they took 16 men who had been training 12 months already (so, not beginners).

8 of them did 45 mins of cardio and 45 mins of weight training at 7am, the other 8 did the same at 6pm.

the 6pm group lost more fat, and gained more muscle than the 7am group.

they attributed this to two things: the 6pm group's workout kicks the metabolism back up in the evening, when it would normally be on the downward spiral...and the 7am group was working out in a catabolic state.

no body was saying you should work out before eating.
