NFL's Biggest Hits

Good video - but as I said in the other thread - thats shoulder charging, not hitting.

Watching that video only two of those are actual "tackles" rather than shoulder charges.

Impressive but should be renamed NFL's biggest shoulder charges.

Hits

I disagree Chris. Shoulder charging would be getting too detailed. A hit, is a hit. A hit is any impact of two masses. The definition of tackle is to seize, and throw to the ground. Tackling is just a more detailed word for hitting. Good effort though ;-)

chrissmith921 get out while you still can lol. Do you really want to get sucked into another arguement, with two teenagers no less! (no offense Vandy/James)...

It'll be like trying to get a horse with blinders to see the peripherals...

In American Football Chris, those are called 'hits'. A tackle is wrapping them up and pulling them to the ground (usually with your hands) Most, if not all of these, are just simple hard hits to knock the opponent on their arse. A 'Hit' in American football is a hard intentional impact.

I think what we have here is just a confusion on lingo, being that you come from a Rugby background. We don't get that technical. :)

Whether it's a hit or a tackle it still doesn't feel good. Whether you're getting blasted by a hockey player, hit by a football player, or slammed by a rugby player...none of it feels good.

I watched a lacrosse game the other day and never having seen it before I thought it was amusing to see the players start beating each other with their sticks. I was like "Ohhhh...land hockey."

I'd love to try American Football.

If I take an exchange year during uni in the States I might get a shot.

Fly - Most British Universities have US Football teams.

If your University doesn't, you can play for the nearest one who does - eg Glamorgan or Swansea students play for Cardiff Cobra's.

Ah thanks for the heads up. I'm surrounded by uni's within a short drive of here so I'll have a look around.

I can't wait to play line backer this season. That video got my head spinning. Played DT my freshmen year. I only played 1 game though. First play in the game I got a sack. That felt so good.

Although I didn't get any more tackles or sacks the rest of the game, but I did cause disruption in the backfield.

Jman

Yeah I'm playin LB too this season. Nothing better than smashing head to head with the big boys. That position is so demanding though. I'm about to faint before half time against a descent offense.

I also play linebacker, and I just love it when a FB comes running at me thinking he can knock me down, but onto the Hit and shoulder charge argument, does it really matter, your trying to knock the guy down, doesnt matter if ur shoulder charging wraping or just diving at his legs, as long as he goes down everyones happy...although if im going at a QB ill be sure to try and shoulder charge him as hard as i can

interestingly enough i play linebacker too, but i also play fullback ( i like fullback better, just for the fact that i score TDs at fullback )

This video has been removed at the request of copyright owner NFL because its content was used without permission. haha. I don't see how two parties can argue basically over who's sport is more intense. Football is football.. Rugby is rugby.. Soccer is soccer or(futbol). They are all different. Who f'kin cares. Its stupid to go and critique someones words to make it sound less intense. Just let the sports be sports.

Who f'kin cares.

Quoted for truth.
