:newbie: Just stopping in to say hi to everyone. New to this forum stuff and would love to get some help with weightloss, points, whatever anyone has to offer. I have tried everything under the sun except surgery and I refuse to do that because not that big I dont think! Peace

Good morning and welcome to the forum!

Try starting yourself a food journal, take a look at other diaries, and read over the stickied threads. You'll gain a whole lot of knowledge on fitness/ nutrition by doing so. Good luck with your weight loss journey.

Hi bjwand10, just like you I am new to this forum. I am still having quite a hard time finding good threads out there so I decided to land on this newbie post. Anyway, are you tired of working(workout, gyms, exercise) just to lose weight? Why not try playing? Well, let me introduce you to a stuff called(link removed) or simply mini trampoline. All you need to do is jump and jump on it over and over again as long as you want. It is a very effective calorie burner. As far as my experience is concerned, I lost around 250-300 calories in 10 minutes of jumping. Rebounding is very enjoyable that i get addicted to it. Unlike going to gym that's very boring:sleeping:. Not only that rebounding also improves your lymphatic system. Why don't you try it yourself? . Hope this helps.

Didn't consumer reports just do an article on the mini trampoline thing and show it was..well..bunk compared to the claims?

Just had a quick look - the ones I found aren't recommended for people over 165 lbs, and apart from that....jumping? On a trampoline? If you're overweight? Even *if* there were trampolins that could withstand the weight of peeps weighing 250 lbs and more (and even the professional ones don't do that), do you know what using a trampoline will do to your ankles, knees and hips?? You might as well use a sledgehammer and wreck them, at least it'll be fast that way.

Some people.....*walks away muttering to herself*

I think I'd end with two black eyes going on a trampoline without at least 4 sports bras on!

Also, 250-300 calories for 10 mins of jumping is just ridiculous I'm afraid. I entered the exercise and a weight of 180lbs into several exercise calculators and the average for 10 mins was 50 calories. Even at 400lbs the most you'd burn was about 150!

So yeah.

*facepalm*
