Hello, I have just joined the forum and am looking forward to exchanging knowledge and experience with the community.

Thanks for the advice, will try to fit in as much as possible. :) I might be a newbie at this forum, but I am not a newbie to weight loss. What interests me the most these days is the psychological aspect of it and I believe that there is no better way to do this than interact with people who are also trying to lose weight.

But yes, I am also trying to lose weight, even though I am unsure just how much I will have to lose to reach my goal of bringing my body fat to below 10% (for the first time in my life). I began at 200 pounds (29% body fat) and am now down a bit over 10 pounds (about 27% of body fat) after a week or so. I just completed my preparations and entered a water fast, so I expect to see some rapid results from it (my goal for july is 30 pounds).

I cannot help but think that if you are wanting to reduce your body fat to below 10% - you really want to preserve as much muscle mass as possible...

A water fast would surely be the last thing that you would want to do because you would spend the next month basically eroding your muscle mass... You surely want to retain as much of that muscle mass as possible - not only for good health but to fill your skin as the fat disappears.

I would have thought that you would be much better served to eat a definite level of protein within a balanced diet at an appropriate calorie level for weight loss.

This, combined with exercise will bring your body fat down.
