Just joined after lurking for a bit. I started trying to get fit again on Boxing Day. I had a tough year and gained quite a bit. I'm in my late 40's and hit 238 1/2 lbs on Boxing Day. I'm a 6'1" male and I felt pretty bad at that weight which essentially is 50lbs over weight. I quit drinking on December 27th and hit the gym. I've been jogging 6-8k twice a week and working out every day except Sunday. So far I'm down 14 1/2lbs. I weighed 224lbs this morning. I'm eating about 1800 calories a day and have ommitted all "white" carbs and empty calories. The diet is okay and I don't feel too hungry very often. The gym sessions have been okay and I'm getting stronger again. However, I feel like I'm living like a monk. No fun food and no booze :( . I'll stay on the wagon until March 31st (Crazy New Year's bet) and add some wine back into my diet, just not a whole bottle at a time.

Hopefully, I can find some support and inspiration here. I haven't been under 190lbs in 20 years and that's my goal.

welcome Caddy,

Looks like we are in a pretty similar boat. So far the info I have found on the board is amazing, and I cant wait to get back down to my 170 goal and keep fit. Looking forward to new experiences as this is keeping me off the couch more.
