Hi all. I have been lurking around reading the stickies and think this is a great place to learn from a lot of people. Here's a little about myself and my goals:
34 years old
Male
5'10
Beginning Weight: 268.5
Current Weight: 248.5
Goal Weight: 175
Bodyfat - 35%
I'm going to lose a total of 90 lbs while keeping my diet as clean* and well-balanced as possible. My problem comes from the diet itself.
*when I say clean, I mean organic sources, good carbs, no HFCS, all meals prepared at home from whole foods.
I have led a rather sedentary lifestyle, although this week I have started some aerobic activity (jogging, jump rope, & jumping jacks). Due to finances, I am kinda stuck doing the old military calisthenics for now (crunches, push-ups, etc.) With this in mind, I figured that I should be taking in 3,000 calories per day (40/40/20) in order to realize a healthy weight loss of 1-1.5lbs/week. The problem is this: I CANNOT SEEM TO EAT THAT MUCH IN CLEAN FOOD IN A DAY. I must be buying the wrong foods...For example, it's 3pm and I have only eaten 840 calories today, and I'm stuffed!
Example: Today's meals
Breakfast - 4am
Oatmeal
1/2 c Plain oatmeal
1 pinch cinnamon
1 tsp NSA peanut butter
1 whole egg, boiled
1 egg white, boiled
32oz water
Snack - 7am
1 Celery stalk
1/2c Hummus
Lunch - 11:30am
1 wedge Laughing cow light cheese
Tuna Salad
1 can tuna
1 tbsp Smart Balance Mayo
1/4 c chopped peppers
1/4 c chopped onion
1/4 c chopped celery
1 1/2 c Baby Spinach
Snack - 2:30pm
1 wedge Laughing cow light cheese
Dinner - ????
What I want to do is split that 3,000 calorie intake evenly throughout the day into 6 - 500 calorie meals. But I am a complete dumbass in terms of nutrition.
Please, help me out! What can I or do I need to change? How can I get better at this nutritional accounting thing?
