Hi, I'm really new to the whole forum thing, but I figured I'd give it a shot.
My goal here is to get in shape, learn to live a healthier life and to keep away from the rut my family appears to be stuck in physically. I come from a long line of overweight and obese people and I am trying to preemptively stomp out the cycle before it has time to settle within myself.
Right now I'm going on 21 at 5' 7" and roughly 170lbs, so I'm not too far gone yet. I'm looking for any exercise tips or advice to keep me on track as I go down this road. My main issues right now are my dieting and overall level of fitness. Really, I have no set plan or method to my eating. Coming from a heavily Italian family carbs (pasta, breads, etc) have naturally become a staple of my diet. If anyone has any suggestions that could help me pin down a good amount to go for at a family dinner that wouldn't garner weird looks I'd be forever grateful.
And onward to my bigger problem, I'm severely out of shape. I was never a very active child, between having pretty bad juvenile asthma and being a lone wolf most of the time. Anything more than a few minutes of physical activity leaves me gasping for breath and I randomly pull muscles with an alarming regularity. My fitness goals are to obtain some sense of stamina and longevity when engaging in physical activity and maybe even tone down a bit (damn me and my baby fat).
Thanks for taking the time to read this and putting up with me. I know I can be long winded at times but I think having a full understanding of the situation helps nail down what I need to do faster. Once again, thanks!
