Newbie - Royal Danish Hospital Diet

Babyweight!

First time I have ever been on a forum or even properly weighed myself to keep track....hopefully I'll be able to share my weight loss journey with some others to keep me motivated.

OK - so I know it is not great to lose weight quickly but after being in denial about the amount of weight I put on whilst pregnant I finally weighed myself the other day....OMG, I was horrified. I have lost some weight since having the baby (10 months ago) but was still 15st 8lbs! At 5ft 10 that means I am obese (however I'm also still carrying enormous post breastfeeding boobs which weigh 1st 8lbs between them!). I am going to my ex's wedding in 3 weeks so have to look more like I used to and not just big fat Mamma. I know there is no way I can lose 5st in 3 weeks but am working hard to make a dent in my target.

So, on Sunday I started the Royal Danish Hospital Diet after looking at various diets online...

After 2 days I have lost 3lbs which is great - although I am going to bed hungry every night. I have approached weight loss like a job - made charts and everything.

So, am hoping to do 13 days on RDHD then do a low fat, low carb plan (probably using Dukan principles). Has anybody out there done anything similar?

A person that is obese, didn't get that way by starving themselves, they had to over eat!

I don't go for these fast diets, the main thing in losing weight is to eat healthy, start by cutting back, use "portion size" exercise. If a person is used to eating a whole bucket of CS Chicken by themselves at one meal and then cut down to 2 PC dinner, they are going to be hungry!! Start by cutting back and exercising, then as you get yourself to eating normal, go by the serving size. If you are really hungry, you may not be eating enough! And you will get sick!

Last night I went over my WW's points and I was at the point of being sick hungry. I ate a haft of an apple and it didn't do me any good, so I had 2 slices of 35 cal white wheat bread with 1 tbsp of sugar free strawberry jam, that cost me another WW's point and it satisfied me. I weighed myself this morning and I had gained .2 lbs, lol.

Welcome to WLF! Eat healthy and good luck to you. :)

Good luck to you

Unfortunately I didn't have the pleasure of tucking into buckets of fried chicken or tubs of ice-cream to get that big. Whilst pregnant I was bedbound for the last 6 months so went from being pretty active to completely inactive which just piled the weight on.

I ate healthily (I don't like sugar or chocolate or fried foods and never have) after the birth but couldn't walk for 3 months so a tiny bit of weight came off but I couldn't diet until I stopped breastfeeding at 7 months. So, although I haven't weighed myself I reckon I lost about 1-2 stone since the birth (as judged by clothes etc).

My long term aim is to move to a healthy (albeit low carb, low bad-fats) diet, but am in desperate need to get a good slug of the weight shifted...

I was diagnosed with PCOS when I was 18 (36 now) and so have always had to watch what I eat and excercise a lot to keep my weight stable - however I never got so big and had such a massive mountain of weight to shift.... Hopefully if I make a dent in it and keep track this time I will incentivise myself to follow a healthy plan in the long term.

Weighed myself this morning and was exactly the same weight that I was the day before...how is that even possible (I did loads (2 hours) of walking up and down hills with a heavy buggy and didn't even smell food off plan)?!!

Of course I know it's silly to do daily weighing but I'm using it as motivation to get through the next day.

Anyway, hoping tomo the scales will be a little more friendly and less disheartening.

you got to remember peoples bodies fluctuate a lot from day to day. I personally think if you weigh yourself daily it may be more negative feedback then positive feedback. It's ok to do it every day, but try to keep track of it just once a week.

One day you could have missed a meal, or had lots of water etc. Just stay positive, I am a pretty big guy currently and I personally don't think the diet things are going to work. I think a lot of these "diets" just force you to eat less for XX weeks and then your body will perhaps lose weight, but when you start eating normal again its going to go back to where it was.

It starts with eating healthy 3-5 times a day. small portions of course.

Good luck :)

Thanks Taras... I'm sure you are right, it's just I need all the motivation in the world to keep out of the kitchen (it's a typical British summer so the rain is keeping me and the baby indoors) and not nibbling - may just try and do sit ups everytime the temptation strikes - double benefit.

I did lose another half kilo when I weighed myself this morning so that is 2kilos in 4 days - am sure it will slow down however as it always does.

I am planning on being very good and back to a more healthy diet after the 13 days but 1-2lbs a week isn't enough on this occasion (I shouldn't have been in denial for so long and just weighed myself earlier).

Good Luck to you on your own journey.
