Hi, my name is Steph & I'm 19 years old. I just found this site and automatically joined, haha. It's what I've been looking for and I think this place will help me so much with my journey. I'm over 250 pounds probably somewhere between 270 and 280. I'd like to lose around 100 pounds, that's my main goal for now. Tomorrow is day 1, eek, lol. So everyone wish me good luck! Haha, anyways, I know this place will come in handy & I just wanted to introduce myself to everyone here!

Also, could anyone tell me how to post an icon with my name on here & a signature

No problem!! From my experience though, it is really good to set measurable goals. That way you can check if you are on track and motivate yourself to reach each goal. 100 in a year would be a bit less than 2 pounds per week (which is usually a maximum for healthy weight loss). I say do some research and set goals for yourself for the next year!! :D
 
The healthy maximum is better stated as about 1% of weight a week.

100 pounds in a year is certainly achievable. I did slightly better than that in my first year. It took me about 14 months to get to 147 which was half my start weight...

I suggest that you check a few diaries and see what the successful weight losers are doing. That might give you a few ideas.

I'll second Omega's advice. Aim for about 1% of your bodyweight per week ... it gives you a healthy and reasonable goal to shoot for.

And check out various diaries and see how people are doing what they're doing. It's not only helpful information, but can be very motivating! :)
