Hi, my name is Amanda and I'm 27 years old. I've been overweight all my adult life and I've tried so many diets but failed because I gave up too easily. But I'm trying to get serious about it now. I'm so glad I found this forum and I really feel like this is the moment I'm finally going to do something about my weight. No more excuses, no more whining, no more giving up. I have to lose weight and I'm determined to do just that.

*cheers* YES!
and you can do it!

Yanno I got this in an email and found it really inspiring:

"I stained my swing this weekend and will plant some new flowers in my flowerbeds this week. My family insists that, as like in the past, the flower beds will eventually be overgrown by weeds and I will be begging my husband to just kill all of it so I can start all over again by spring – they doubt my ability to keep up with my flowers, etc for any length of time.

Forget them!!! I am a perpetual optimist and don’t listen to these naysayers!!! I am excited about the new look of my house and can’t wait to sit on my newly-stained swing and watch the butterflies and birds flit and fly in my flowerbed.

This is the time of year to apply a fresh coat of paint to your house, plant fresh flowers and beautify all that is around us. The seasons are changing which leads us to the perfect opportunity to renew your healthy fitness and nutrition habits.

Today is the day! It’s the beginning of the week, the beginning of the month and the weather is beautiful!

What I’d like you to do today is get rid of all of your weeds – don’t simply pick them, shovel them out and kill them! Changing your health and fitness habits is a lot like gardening. The only way to move forward is to start anew and plant new flowers, let those flowers take root and you have a new habit! Don’t focus on past failures or disappointments and don’t let others shift your focus to the past, this can only serve to zap your energy that is needed to move forward. I for one resolved this weekend to take time off each week to do things that provide me with satisfaction (my life runs so much smoother and my stress level stays under control when I do this); I am determined not to let anything get in my way (so please understand that this is why I will not be at the club on Fridays). Come spring we will all laugh in the face of those that say we can’t do it – they don’t know our inner power and drive that makes us the powerful women we are. Push forward with a renewed sense of purpose and give yourself a fresh coat of paint."

I believe the woman who wrote this is the owner of my gym. I thought i'd share and welcome you to the forum. I'm new myself, but I really find the before and after picture thread particularly inspiring.

SO WELCOME!

I'm Daphne!:hug2:

This forum is a nice place. I just joined recently as well and I find that keeping my ticker up-to-date is a nice push forward.

Welcome!
