Hi! Today is my first day on this forum. I am a mom to 3 children (ages 17, 14 and 10), and have been happily married to my HS sweetheart for 18 years. I am here because I am looking for support and encouragement and hopefully give the same back to others. I lost weight before with ease after my last child, but then when I turned 31, my metabolism got super slow. I am now 37 and have been trying to lose this weight for a while. I was about 25 pounds lighter 6 years ago (and stayed at that weight for 6 years), then i started to slowly gain weight every year, even though i was still eating the same foods(low fat). I still do low fat but I guess my body is used to that and it doesn't work anymore. I will put on weight with low fat cookies, whereas before i would not. Anyhow, I am now trying Volumetrics, that seems to have budged the scale for me a bit. 3 pounds in 4 days is not bad! Best of all, I do not feel deprived and I feel great! I am also walking for exercise. I can't wait to hear all about others weight losses and challenges!

eating low fat isn't really a miracle for weight loss. dietary fat doesn't translate into body fat. perhaps you could take a look around the stickies on nutrition. volumetrics seems like its basically low calorie which is why you are losing weight. i'm not so sure how good it would be for permanent fat loss though. are you tracking your calories or anything?

Eating low fat foods really worked for me (about 10 years ago), along with exercising religiously. i remained at my ideal weight for 6 years. Everyone's body is different. What worked for me in my early thirties is not working for me now, so I had to do something different. Volumetrics is not a super low-cal diet, it is anywhere from 1200-1500. I don't count calories, I just make healthy choices and grab a banana over a cookie. Or i will have just one bite of a cookie and a piece of fruit. What are you doing to lose weight?

I keep track of calories (as well as protein, fat, & carbs just for some balance) and when I'm not in the middle of a big fibromyalgia flare up, I do cardio and weight training.
