I'm a 37 yr old female with 4 kids under the age of 8. I need to loose about 25-30 lbs which have slowly crept up on me since having my kidlets.

I'm 5'3 and weigh 156lbs which has been a steady weight for me since the last 2 kids.

I've recently joined a gym and am committed to going 6 days a week, with one rest day. I really enjoy getting some "alone" time and I definately feel better for having worked out.

I'm also watching what I eat and trying to make better choices....like whole grains, more fruits/veggies, more lean protein, cutting sweets & sugars, etc...the usual stuff. I'm trying not to micromanage my diet because I know that a huge part of healthy weight loss is activity and I want to make sure I'm still eating "normal" food that I can share with my family.

The issue I'm having now is that I've been going daily to the gym (for the past 9 days), where I spend 30 minutes on cardio...doing combo run/walk (50/50) and then alternating a 45min-1 hour weight session with about 20-30 minute AB session. During all my workouts I work my buns off and definately give it 100%, however I've yet to loose 1 single pound!!!

I'm still motivated but it doesn't feel great when day after day, I'm exactly the same.

Anyway, I like reading about other peoples successes and any helpful advice is much appreciated!!

hey there welcome ... im no expert .... what is your daily calorie intake? making better choices is great but even too much of a good thing isnt soo great...

It's generally pretty good...probably between 1200 and 1500. I know a food diary would help me get a complete picture.

yea thats what helped me alot.. you dont really realize how much your are eating... well i didnt lol ... have you ever tried spark people. com they help you come up with a diet workout and everything plus there is support there too the more you can get the better.

Hi Mom2Four.

This might sound a little odd, but are you eating enough? It sounds like you have really kicked up your workout program (nice job!), but if you are eating the same amount of calories, you might not be getting enough. Although i can't give you the calorie amount that would work for you, perhaps a trainer at your gym can. I speak from personal experience. I had hit a plateau in my weight loss (after increasing my workouts) and when I increased my calorie intake, those last few pounds finally came off. I lost about 35 pounds and have kept it off for three months so far.

Good luck!

I'm definately eating enough. I've been casually calculating the calories vs calories burned, and I shouldn't be under-eating.

I've started using "sparkpeople.com" as was suggested and am tracking more accurately my calories and I look to be in the 1300-1400 range. Also using workout calulator.

I took measurements last week and will re-take this week and hopefully will see a little reduction there to keep me motivated.

The only other thing that I can think might be skewing scale is that I am exercising at completely different times depending on the day. Because I have 4 little ones at home and my hubby is a shift-worker, I have to do my gym time around his schedule which is all over the map...sometimes I go early am, sometimes mid afternoon and sometimes late evening. Lately it's been late evening. I know that your weight can vary throughout the day...I'll keep my fingers crossed!!!

I'm also really carefully making sure I drink at least 8 glasses, and usually at least 10

:party:Finally!!! Despite coming down with a chest cold, I stayed committed and went to work out today, although I just stuck to my 30 minutes of cardio with combo power walk & rowing 2000M. I'll give my body an extra little bit of rest today and hopefully tomorrow will be better. It was hard on my chest to workout though.

Anyway, finally, I weighed in and lost 1 pound!! It seems very teeny tiny in the grand scheme of things, but if they say loosing 1 pound/week is healthy and the best then I'm pretty much on track at 9 days.

I've been tracking my food diligently too and seem to be where I need to.

It definately feels great to be moving in the right direction. Thanks for all the advice & support!!!!:hurray:

Hello and welcome again.

It sounds like you are making all the right moves. I just wonder if your calorie count is accurate? Are you measuring your food? Sometimes it helps if when you first start you actually measure it (by the cup, by the tbsp, etc.) It might seem like you are micromanaging your food at first, but then after awhile it will become second nature. It's all a part of the "life style".

There were times when I quit calculating every little calorie, but that's when I overate the most - even though I thought I was in range.

You definitely should see some sort of loss with the calorie range and exercise you are getting in - if the numbers add up correctly.

Good luck!
