Hi Everyone,

I am hoping to join your community, to encourage others in the same situation as me and hopefully find some support for the hard times!

A little about me...

Height: 5'5
Current Weight:184 lbs (I have lost 12 lbs in the last 3 weeks due to relocating from Canada to China
Weight 2012/2013: 195 lbs
Weight 2008/2009: 160 lbs (stayed at that weight for 9 months, before that I was at 172-175 for close to 1 year)
Weight Post 2008: Low 179 lbs and High 204 lbs

In my teens up until I was in my early twenties, I have always worked out...at times less, at times very "religiously".

Growing older and I realize more than ever that life is a huge balancing act. I have tried losing weight countless times, but every time something made me drop the ball. That "something" has never been anything else but "myself" (i.e: critical voice, perfectionist voice, judgemental voice, self consciousness, etc). I am hoping that this time around I have learned my lesson and that I will not allow these voices to sabotage the hard work I will be putting forward.

I hope to remain as grateful as possible for each step that I take towards achieving my goal of a healthier mind in a healthier body.

"Fighting!!"

Hello GoldDigger, welcome! we are here to help you win the fight against fat. One thing I've learned is to get right back on the wagon the next day if you have a day of eating too much. Think of it as a positive new day.

Welcome to the forum.

Quite a lot of us grow to believe that we need to embrace the idea of it being a lifelong change in lifestyle to really do the trick... Thinking in terms of "a diet" is too short term... The concept of it being a lifelong change gets home to us the idea that we will have to work to maintain any weight change.

It also means that we have to adopt a strategy where we do not put off treats and parties until after the end of the diet... We have to find a way of coping with them... We have to forgive ourselves when we go off track and get back on track.

I think that this concept will help you deal with your problems once and for all.

I suggest that you read the following thread - it may help you settle in and make friends

Good luck with your project.
