Hi Folks, this seems like a logical starting point for making the most of this site so here goes :>

I'm 24 and have been a 'big kid' all my life. My growth petered out at about 18 when I was 6'10" and just over 300lb's. Unfortunately that's when I started tertiary study and moved out of home. Between drinking, crap eating habits (not helped by smoking cannabis daily) and a very sedentary lifestyle I've somehow :)smilielol5:) wound up at the 400+lb's I'm at now.

I stopped smoking last september and tried to eat better and do more exercise but my lack of organisation got the better of me. I suddenly "didnt have time" to go to the gym anymore and would forget to do the grocery shopping so would end up eating last minute fast food and other assorted crap. Just like that the small gains I had made were gone.

Come new year I had a bit of a realisation (as people tend to) and nothing significant had happened in my life in about 3 years outside of work. I've done little outside of my job, which while resulting in a good career and financial situation is a pretty depressing prospect, so decided to work towards change instead.

I've moved back home with my parents, purchased a proper concept2 rowing machine (always my favorite at the gym), purchased some scales capable of weighing me (wasnt easy!), started keeping a food diary and reading some of the inspirational stories on this site. I've also set money aside for a 30 day contiki tour of europe which I've promised myself I'll book as soon as I hit 300lbs, providing a deadline with which will hopefully help me knock off that home stretch in the 3-6 months before the actual departure.

I'll look at doing some personal training sessions and firing up the gym membership again, but I feel I need to be fit enough to handle a decent session there to make it worth it.

Hope my rant was bareable and I'm looking forward to crossing threads with some of you in the future :)

Hey cheers navas, looks like you're at a similar stage in your journey to mine so I'm sure you too find all the other posts/posters here very helpful!

wishes, your progress pics are incredible. I'm a sysadmin as well and spend plenty of time sitting in front of a PC so your results are even more of a motivator for me. That said, I don't use up any calories chasing around four kids! :)

If I can get results half as impressive as yours I'll be over the moon.
