Newbie, but not to weight loss

Hello, all: I am slowly on the way down via exercise and a healthy (typically) low- sugar plan. I have lost about 15 pounds and hope to lose 12 more.

I'm 30, very interested in nutrition and whole foods, less interested in exercise, and pretty motivated.

My exercise goals for the last months have been, essentially, to get in there and do SOMETHING 5x/ week. I hope to add more structure/ intensity later, but for now I'm just working on building new habits! The food part is easy, but I find the exercise commitment tougher.

Thanks for being here! :seeya:

Welcome aboard. :)

Simple question: Do you believe your plan is sustainable for life?

It's all about the small steps toward a better you. I don't think any of us picked this up sprinting.

Thanks for replying.

I think this is do- able, as nothing is off limits, ever...I eat fresh food in season and the occasional processed granola bar or cereal. I like my food, and don't feel hungry or deprived. I have wine or champagne on the weekends, and sometimes a sweet treat in small portions. Food isn't the issue, exercise is.

And no, I don't think I can exercise 5x per week for life. It sounds like a small thing, but 4x per week is far more realistic. I guess I figured that I needed 5-6 days to really get at weight loss...I hate to feel as if my exercise falls into the "moderate" category! I really want to work hard...

It's simple.

You *must* have the protein sparing factors of exercise in place. This means appropriate resistance training.

Beyond that, nothing is required. The other stuff simply helps. The less energy you expend via exericise, the more tight you have to be with the diet, is all.

I've dieted down multiple times to single digit body fat without much of any exercise beyond heavy strength training.

Exercise can be fun

Hi , Welcome..

You have taken the first step to achieve something that will change
the way you are.. Exercise can be as simple as walking 20 minutes three times a week. You can even try dancing to you favorite tunes ....even do some gardening... all helps to burn calories and tone the body...weight training is excellent for a all over body work out.

^^^ Thanks for the replies.

I agree, lifting hard and heavy is the best way to get lean. :) I love it! I'm most challenged by cardio at the moment, due to my tendency to ignore cardio altogether.

I also bike everywhere.
