Newbie Alert

Hey guys and gals....

Without giving you my life story, I'll just say that I spent 10 years of my life in the military and have spent the past 8 years of my life undoing all of the hard work and discipline that the military instilled in me. Neglect and very little self-pride can be a very lethal combination.

I'm 39 yrs old, and I've finally decided to regain control of my life again. My goal is to simply be able to fit into a pair of size 36 jeans again, which is about six inches away. There's a history of diabetes in my family, which is another huge motivator. I can no longer afford to accept the image that I see in the mirror each morning.

I will thank you in advance for all of your support and encouragement. I've lurked a bit and the site seems like a great place to get started. I began my first workout session at the gym today, and contrary to my thoughts while I was on the treadmill, I somehow managed to live through it. LOL...

I'm a stay-home dad, both kids are relatively older and independent... which means I've got 7 days each week to get with the program. No excuses, none whatsoever. Trust that I will use the forum as a source of inspiration and insight.

Thanks for having me.

Hi! Welcome to the forum! I am new myself, but am here for the same reason. So far, joining this forum has been one of my best decisions because it keeps me motivated every single day. Just like you, I used to be in GREAT shape, and now, several years later am just fed up with the image I see in the mirror. I am on my third week of working out steadily and I wish you the best motivation and success as well!

I'm another new one here too. I have found this site to motivate me more than any other site has, as far as staying on track & keeping motivated. I'm glad to see more people like me, who once felt great, was in shape & healthy, had about 10 yrs pass when staying healthy was not possible for whatever reason, and are trying to regain feeling good, to regain health & experience fitness again.

I love to read the incredibe stories & accounts of improvement & the sometimes inane threads that capture people's attention. I especially love reading the expertise of some & links to further information to support what people refer to so I can learn more. The next day I push myself a tiny bit more each time I can & come back to be inspired some more. Join me in Keeping On Keeping On!
