Hey all,
Just wanted to introduce myself. I'm at a little bit of a strange point, but needed some support to remain on a healthy path.

I have struggled with eating disorders for the past 9 years (Anorexia when younger and more recently Bulimia) and I am now finally relatively healthy. I work as a personal trainer and know a pretty decent amount of nutritional information. Working in my field, I feel pressure to be a certain way and I try not to let it get to me, but I want to portray the healthiest image I can. I eat tons of vegetables, lean meats, whole grains, etc. I work out pretty much every day and try to be as healthy as possible. That all sounds great and would make you think I don't have a weight/body image problem. Well, I tend to overeat the healthy stuff and have my days where I binge. The thing I'm trying to work on is getting my calories in earlier and not getting to the point where I'm ravenous and eat my entire kitchen late at night.

That said, my goal is a (relatively) small 10-12 pounds. I am hoping to get support from people who "get it" and to build a healthier me! Look forward to chatting with you all...

If you've had problems with eating disorders in the past I would recommend any calorie deficit plan be accompanied by a strict adherence to a calorie diary.

Namely, pick a caloric intake that will help you shed a pound a week and stick with it for 3 months...and you'll be right where you need to be. That way you avoid the 'fix' of avoiding food (or feel guilty for eating a meal).

Good for you for becoming a personal trainer by the way. It's fun isn't it? What gym do you work for?
