New Year, New Thread for Those who Weigh 200 lbs/90 Kg or More

In fitness magazine a couple of months ago they did a story on 10 things you need to know after weight loss.

I'm pretty sure the number one was that it doesn't solve all your problems.

It could well be that now that she's at goal, a lot of her life is still the same and she's unhappy with that. Or, it could be that she got used to the attention she received from people during weight loss and now that attention has died down, so she's jealous of the people who are getting it now. If that one's true, I sure wouldn't want to be around her after a wedding or pregnancy.

Great job on the weight loss, btw!!

(And that frame of thought weirds me out. When I can shop for clothes anywhere, the rest of the world will be eclipsed by my happiness, at least until I realize I still can't afford them...):waving:

Hmmm the weight loss guru wannabe syndrome!!! Lotsa people seem to do this and insist on telling you how much they lost, eating plans etc at the merest hint that you are trying to lose weight. A bitchy version of this creature is the absolute worst!!! Just ignore the woman...she has probably realised that even tho she lost weight she is no happier cos she has a flawed personality...maybe a little harsh on the poor woman but im willing to bet she's pretty bitter that her life didnt get magically better when she got thinner.....or i could be babbling rubbish!

Hope made a great point abt everyone having the potential to be beautiful (inside and out) but they dont always take it....sad but true. I know that i havnt treated my body like a beautiful thing (in fact i am pretty disgusted with myself sometimes) but that is all changing - slowly- and im beginning to think that my body is special and needs to be treated well. I like to think im alright on the inside tho!

I have def written too much! Hope all is going well ladies!

Man, I understand what you are saying! Like this guy I know he used to be real big and now his like 150 lbs? He insults other people who are big and he insulted me once. I managed to shut him up :). Just do what you do, don't let anybody let you guys down!

pictures of me lol

Kevi,
I like the 2nd picture the best. You dont look like you're trying to be all gangster like you do in the third one. LoL

LoL. Too Cute... I think you look like my step-cousin Brandon.

Hmmm... I think its cool how different people can look like someone else.

Here is some Randomness....

My friend Reina looks just like a younger Salma Hayek. And there are photos of me when I was a teen where I looked dead like that America Fierra girl. Not how she looks on Ugly Betty TV Show, but how she looks in SisterHood of the Traveling Pants movie.

Has anyone else here ever been told they look like someone famous?

haha, iwasnt trying to be like a gangster xD you see a gangster wearing a adidas t shirt? lol

LoL... I have before.

I didn't even realize it was an adidas shirt until you said. LoL... I must be blind because it's in huge writing on your shirt!

:rotflmao: :rotflmao: :rotflmao: hahaa Spartacus that is too funny lol. yes maybe it is the latter of what you said because she is always saying that she is happy with her life and her life has improved so much, and it seems sincere. I know what you mean about the malls thing..when i can go to any store except plus size stores and get something that fits...I will be too happy!!

Hi Tinkerbella:grouphug:

 you are dead on with this...she does act like she knows everything about weight loss!! Well not with me because she likes to act as if weight loss is impossible for me in particular :rotflmao: but with others she is always holding a free fitness consultation session :p She is nice for the most part but people losing weight around her seems to bring out the ugly side. I try to ignore her, but sometimes she will say things like..."Oh Ginger can you believe I saw someone fatter than you?!!!!" I was so tempted to ask her, "Oh did you look at some old pictures of yourself?" :blush5: Sorry...that is bad I know...but she is so annoying sometimes.

And Kevi good for you on telling that one off LOL It is amazing how people forget themselves! I loved your pictures by the way ;) You're quite a handsome guy :)

yeah I could see it...I attached a picture of her from that time...

The only famous person I have been told I look like is Tracey Edmonds...I can see where they were going with it, but I do not look like her in my opinion....maybe the small nose and the almond eyes....honestly I like the way I look better LOL I attached a picture of her also. Some of her pictures I could sort of see it, but others I am like whoa...way off LOL in this picture I can sort of see it, but I still like the way I look better (she is the one in the picture on the right)

1st Date ?

Hey Everyone,

I'm asking you all because many of you have probably been on many more dates than I have, considering I've never been on a date before.

Anyway, I work overnight at a data center and some alarm contractors have been working over here for the last few days. Well, today, one of them was jumping around to get my attention and finally when I went over to him, he pulled me around the cornor and said that one of his buddies liked me.

From what he said, I guess they went out to eat lunch and they started talking about our site and then about me and how I seemed pretty cool and Sean was like, "Yeah, I like her" wanna get to know her and yadda yadda yadda. So, Jay wanted to give me his number so I could call Sean but instead I gave my number to Jay for I get nervous when it comes to calling people. Hell, I dont even call the friends I do have.

They left around 3 am and at 320 I seen a missed call on my phone. So, I called it back and Sean answered all nervous like. He said he didn't know that his friend was going to ask me for my number for him. So, out of curiosity, I asked him if he really wanted my number or if Jay was messing with us. He said he did, but he was going to ask me for it tonight when he seen me again. So, he asked me my work schedule and asked if I wanted to go out and do something with him outside of work. I told him yeah that sounded cool.

My question is... I've never really been out anywhere, nor on a date with a guy I hardly know, so what should I expect? Actually, what should I do? I dont want to be all nervous or anything and I'm unsure of what people do on dates, for I've never been on one.

So, I just decided to ask you all since some of you have more life experience than myself. Especially from you Natalie, since you talk about the dates you go on... is it weird being out with someone you hardly know?

Veronica

I would say the best thing to do is to just be yourself and do not let him kiss you.

I hope all turns out well...it annoys me to no end when guys have their friends come to talk to me for them. I guess some shy guys can be sweet though.

Hi! What a great club thread! I'd like to join

I crossed over into the 200's when I was pregnant with my second child, who is now 25 years old! I got down into One-derLand (what a great name!) for a few years in the middle, but by the mid-90's I was back over 200. My highest weight was in 2001, I think, when I hit 262. Since then it's been up and down, but gradually trending down. Generally I lose in the summer but gain some back in the winter. :-(

This spring I started at 228, and lost 10 pounds in the month of April. I was pretty excited, but May hasn't gone so good. I've been bouncing around between 216 and 218 for the last 3 weeks. Discouraging.

What do you guys think about plateaus? Do most of you lose slowly but steadily, or is that just a myth? Even when I'm following my diet faithfully, I can go for 6 weeks without losing anything, then suddenly lose 3-5 pounds in a week. This isn't just the rare occurrence - it's my usual pattern of weight loss. Does this happen to other people or is it just me?

Summerbaby, I hear what you are saying, but this is also Minnesota. We're talking negative 20 or more wind chills, snow covering the sidewalks, etc. That and yes, I am a complete and total wuss about the cold. The wind almost always blows here, combine that with subzero temps...I ain't walkin' to the gym....:driving:

Hey, I'm from Minnesota too! Where do you live? I'm in the Twin Cities.

It was a long, long winter, wasn't it? I have a hard time with winter - the darkness depresses me and the weather makes it hard to get enough exercise. I try to find things I can do outside (for the sunlight as much as anything) but the weather was so inconsistent this year that you couldn't plan anything. Plan to go skiing and there's no snow. Plan to go skating and everything suddenly melts. Settle on just a walk then, and slush starts falling from the sky. :puke:

Spring's having a hard time getting off the ground too. But it looks like we might finally get a nice weekend for Memorial Day.

As for dates, Pink Clouds is right. Spot on! (in my experience)

Welcome Sharoo!! I'm definitely a slow and steady. I used all my weight points since January 1st to plot a line of what I'm likely to lose by the end of the year and it's about 30 pounds away from where I started. If I'm lucky I lose a pound a week, but it's usually less. I just keep plugging!!

I've noticed some other people are not that way, though. :)

Yeah, from what I know/seen he does seem pretty shy. Actually last night he was alot more out there than the first day I met him. Kind of how school kids are when they like one another... accidently brushing up against you, constantly looking at you until you notice then they look away. LoL. It's cute, but still weird cuz I only met him like 48 hours ago.

Yeah, him kissing me wasn't really on the 'must do' checklist. I just hope I'm not a total clutz/spaz. LoL... I'm not use to any of this... hell, I wasn't sure his friend was talking to the right girl until I realized I'm the only girl working there overnight other than the 60 year old security lady. LoL.

Ok gang! Just read all of these and now have to run off to get the kids from school! Just wanted to let you all know you are a great bunch of people, and I enjoy being in our little BIG club, lol... So I have decided, even when I do get out of the 2oo's and into onederland, umm I'm so still staying in this group!, we are going to have to call ourselves, the ex 200's soon enough!!!!

Love all the new pics, you guys are beautiful inside and out, gees!!!!

Oh and by the way I'm in love!

Ex 200's club! Woohooie, sounds awesome. LoL... You know, I couldn't think of a better bunch to be experience this with than you all. You all are awesome!

Congratultions on being in LOVE:beating:

I know that's how this month has been for myself. I joined up WLF around March and didn't really seen any weight loss until this recient month and I'm still doing everything the way I was when I started. So, not losing anything then the pounds melting off seems to be more common than not.

Anyway, Welcome to our Clubhouse! :)

HELLO EVERYONE! TAKE CARE!

Tonight

Hey All,
OMG! So tonight Sean and I are going out on a date. I feel like such a girl cuz I've been thinking about what to wear, how to do my hair, and all that stuff. I'm so excited. I got to know more about him today. He's the same age as myself. 5'11 White Male from Texas. He has grey eyes. He is super sweet. Came here for College and blah blah.

His contracting job ended last night, so I wont be seeing him at work anymore. I knew this would happen... As soon as I went up to the area I worked in to grab something, him and his crew left, and what's cute is that I got a missed call on my phone that said he was sorry that he left without saying goodbye and that he's really looking forward to getting to know me. :)
It might not be as cute to you as it is to me but I think it was cute.

Eh, what sucks is that for our date I have to meet him somewhere. He was insistant on driving down to my place to pick me up, but it's way too far. We live like 50 miles apart. Plus, driving to my house means we'd have to drive 20 miles back into town if we wanna do someting other than go grocery shopping. LoL. My job is like halfway between my house and his so I think we are meeting somewhere by my work.

OMG... I'm so nervous. He asked me what I like to do, I was unsure of what to say, there is so much stuff I haven't done before and yeah, so I told him I was down with anything and that if he didn't mind he should pick. I'm like that though, I'm the person who wants to do what you want to do. Heck, my coworker Rob gets upset because I always make him pick where to eat lunch and even when I say I will pick I somehow find a way for him to choose. I was wondering, is being slightly inidecisive a bad thing? Like I said, I'm always up for trying new things, so I really dont know what I like to do.

Okay, I'll stop babiling on like a little school girl. It's just I really have no one to tell other than my WLF Peeps!

Hello Everyone,
Congrats to all who have lost weight, and Welcome to others who have come aboard...

Well I would like to say HELLO! lol I have been reading through and wow!
I don't know how I will catch up in responses. I have to try and get on here like once a day... I just sometimes get depressed, and don't want to come on, but do, or I get really busy.

Jay and I are doing well. We are friends, and sometimes a little more. But I think he does like me, but I am just going to wing it ...

And with Derek, he is upset I don't want to be with him or do anything with him. Oh well, men! lol

But anyway my weight said this morning 266.8 and just now it said 265.6, so yo no se .. I really dont know, it keeps fluctuating...

but I have been jogging/ walking ... I tried it one day anyway and now the sun finally came out, so I might go and walk anyway and may add jogging in ...

change it up a bit with the jogging ...

anyway I love you all!
and will not be so MIA lol :willy_nilly:

Welcome Sharoo :D I see you are on your way to crossing out of the 200's and into Onderland:cheers2: too cool. They say it is best to lose weight slowly. Depending on the diet that you are on, it is possible to see a greater loss in the first month because of the loss of water weight. Do not worry, just keep doing what you are doing and even if it is coming off slowly, it is still coming off so it is something to be happy about. Sometimes I think...If I stuck to weight loss all of the times I said I would I would have been so slim by now, so even if the weight is coming off slow now, I am not stopping or getting discouraged. In the future I know I will thank myself for sticking through this.:hurray: So happy to having you with us. You will like it here, its a pretty neat bunch :D Sorry for the late reply BTW! I have not been online for a few days.

Does anyone here have to deal with migraines? OMG they are evil!!! If you believe in the devil....trust me they are from him/her! I have been having my first one since Thursday...well not my first one, but my first one with a headache. I even went to the doctor because it is not like a headache but a sharp intense pain in one area...I mean soooooo intense I thought a vein or something was on the verge of bursting. Before I was having what is called acephalgic migraine which is where I cannot see really because of these flashing light type things...they call them auras, specifically scintillating scotoma. I did not even know that this was a migraine because there was no pain. I have been having it on occasion for years now, but thought it was just some freaky vision thing that no one could explain because my sugar levels are fine and my eyes are in "perfect health." So sorry if i have been away, I have been fighting the forces of EVIIIILLLLL.
