New Year, New Thread for Those who Weigh 200 lbs/90 Kg or More

I'm doing fine and been going to the gym lately and gaining so many muscle weight! Making me mad, but I have one problem when i run guys. I hope some can help me, my sides hurts whenever I jog or run, but not when I play ybasketball. It only happens when I do cardio workouts. I don't really know why this is happening.

Hey Kevi!
I hope going to the gym is working out for you. Hey, muscle gain is better than fat. You'll start dropping off more weight again soon. Anyway, I know the feeling you are having, it use to happen to me when I started doing cardio.

Anyway, here is what I found on the net about your side hurting:

Pain in the side while running or jogging is called a 'stitch'. It can happen even to the most seasoned of joggers every once in a while. It means the oblique muscle on your ribcage is not getting enough oxygen and is producing lactic acid, a waste product of glucose and glycogen that is produced in the muscles during intense or strenuous exercise. It can be painful- but that's about all it will do.

Some find breathing deep (belly breathing) helps to abate the pain. Always remember to warm up properly before jogging and to keep good posture while running- shoulders back, stomach in and chin parallel to the ground. No hunching or leaning forward! Don't forget a proper cool down with stretches- and always drink plenty of water.

This is the best answer I can come up with. Not only because it was the first one I found on the internet. :) But, it's pretty much the same definition that I remembered when you mentioned the pain. After awhile, if you are hydrated enough, the pain should subside when you do your cardio.

Later,
Veronica

Veronica, you seem to have a whole lot going on right now. I think I agree with you putting all your worries on your body since it's something you can control.

Your pic is super cute and from the kindness and compassion I've seen you display on this thread, I can see why Sean would be into you. There are lots of (excuse the French) skinny bitches around. Some fat ones, too. But many guys take more than body size into account. I hope everything is due to TOM. Good luck (and glad to hear Sean is your definite bf!).

I've been reading about it, maybe I will try it. It's not gonna hurt huh? and guess what guys! I'm start for the Y bball team hehehe.

Hey everyone!
Sorry I have been MIA, been isolating and was kind of scared to come back on, because I was just a little bad with my diet, so I felt ashamed... but I am still down to 262.2 pounds and I am back on track with the "lifestyle change"...
Anyway I shall catch up on everyones posts ..

love you all
and Derek and I have been together almost a whole month and been friends for a month before that. Its feels amazing. He is the greatest guy a woman could ask for. I never dreamed I would be treated like the princess I am .. :)

love you all!

Hey girls and Kevi :D:D

Had a great weekend so far :) Hope everyone else is having fun!

Quick update on stalker-friend situation...all sorted out for the mo :D She has apologised and promised that she will cut out the crazy stuff. She has also agreed to give me til the end of summer to decide what will happen to our friendship - doubt that it will be a diff decision though! Regardless, she has gone to stay with her mum for a bit, so i will get some peace for at least a month and then see what happens. Think Nat might have been right abt her meds being wrong, so hopefully she will get the doc to sort that.

Still very wary of her but big...sigh....of....relief.....:svengo:

Thanx again for the words of wisdom!
Hey Tink, Just catching up on the thread. Yea her meds are probably off. It will take a month or two for it to correct themselves, but she is trying when she moved to her mum's place.

Good for you! Your getting through this with the strength and courage of a thousand armies... :)

love yas

So it's official... I'm starting to become a blob.
I'm losing the weight, but haven't been exercising. So, my body is all jiggly and I'm hateing it!

So, I'm going to go on Tuesday or Wednesday to LA Fitness and get a gym membership. Or, I suppose I could just sign up with Curves again.

With Curves, it got boring going around in the same circle all the time, but it's only down the street from my house. If I get a membership with LA Fitness, I'd have to drive 20 miles to get there because it's near my job. So, the only time I'd go to it would be on the days I work, and that's no fun because I work 12 hour shifts and I know how tired I am in the morning. What to do what to do. Hmm...

I think I'll head down to Curves and see if they will let me have a monthly membership instead of the 2 year one I had to sign up with before. Only because I know I'll get bored there, or end up wanting to try a different gym, and it's easier to cancel a monthly contract.

Should I just go back to Curves?

I was also looking for a Kickboxing class to start going to. I know that will take tons of dedication and will be hard as hell, but I know I'll enjoy it. When I get to 200 pounds, I'm defenitly planning on signing up for a kickboxing class.

Anyway, talk to you all later.

Hello to everyone in this group, im just back to wlf after a long absence. It feels good to be back though. I was seeing a personal trainer for 3 months and she was fantastic. Unfortunately i just cant do the payments for her. Im still paying it off through my gym and our sessions are done already. after i wasnt seeing her anymore, i really had a hard time going back to the gym by myself, but im not really sure why. So, Im away on vacation with my bf at the moment and we will be back next friday. We have both been active while away,, but he agreed to help me get my butt back into the gym. I know my routine and I can do it on my own. I started off feeling really guilty about not keeping up with things, but now im just going to put that behind me and embrace starting over
Michelle :)

Veronica I did Curves and i HATED it , for the fact that it didnt feel like i was getting any exercise and the circut was so boring, I lost the 1st stone grand and then nothing at all for a month, even when i was going twice a day.

Also they were very pushy regarding buying into their products. When i signed up i had to recommend 5 friends/family members even though none of them wanted to go. I got one of my sisters to go and they got v pushy about names and numbers of people i had asked and if they were joining.

In the end i left just for the pushyness, I go to work out not to be given the third degree

Thats just my experience with it and as you can see it wasnt a good one, But if it worked for u before u go for it

Good Luck xx

LOL... your experience almost the same as mine! I hated it there. They were always trying to get me to buy their shakes / books / pills and all that crap. Then, when I wouldn't go for a few days they would get on my ass about it. You are right... we go there to work out, not yelled at.

The part that sucked was that they made me sign up for a 2 year contract so every month they took 30 bucks from my account... out of the 2 years I had to pay to go, I went maybe a month in total.

I think I'm going to go to LA Fitness, there's enough equipment there that I wont get bored so easily. Plus, there'd be hot guys to look at!!

I hate Curves because I used to work next door to one and everyone would yell motivational things that made me feel embarrassed to even hear. I'm that way, though.

As for kickboxing--weight shouldn't dictate whether you try it. I've done it and I'm 231(ish) right now. It'll make you huff and puff a little at first if you're out of shape, so maybe buy a DVD first and practice at home. I understand the LA Fitness choice; good luck!!!

I work out at curves, so I have all 40+ women. There are some who at like 80+. It is crazy. I am only 24 and so I am quite a bit younger. They tell stories about their kids and knitting and grand kids and such. It makes me laugh and I always come home to tell my husband "amazing" stories that they tell. I am pretty sure that some of them only come to socialize. I always look at them though and think that if they can do it then so can I.

Just a hello to all from a New 'Oldie'

Hi All,
I'm new to this site, this technology, and to this refreshing idea of sharing my weight loss heartaches and 'successes' but unfortunately not new at trying to get heathly and lose weight. As I read all of your comments I am so impressed by both your openness and encouraging comments. As a long time yo-yo dieter I'm jumping on the wagon again. My first hurdle was to quit smoking and had my last smoke 3 weeks ago, now it's time to take on this 235lbs on a 5'4" frame. :newbie:
