Hi! I just stumbled across this site and am very excited. I have 5 dear daughters and have been struggling with my weight for about eight years. I am about 80 lbs overweight, but enjoy fitness. I have worked out at gyms and exercise classes, bootcamps, etc for the past several years. I grew up a dancer and miss having the self-esteem to continue with that passion.

I am fed up with being over-weight and ready to get back down.

I recently started a blog to help with being focused on a healthy lifestyle. I found a schedule last night for beginners to start jogging. I am excited about starting that Monday. Anyone is welcome to join me. You can find the first week's schedule at healthyfitandfun.com.

I look forward to getting to know you and to watch your successes as I post mine!

Any suggestions and help is greatly appreciated.

good luck on your journey! You seem to have a great start already with your blog. My only suggestion from personal experience is to not get into a boring routine of jogging. Not only does it bring your motivation down, it also does nothing for your body.

If you have a workout routine that has different muscles working and keeps your muscles "on their toes" so to speak, you will see much faster results. For example, dont just straight up jog for however long, run for 2 minutes, jog for 3 mins, walk for 3 mins..and keep your body guessing.

And make sure your doing alot of muscle strengthening workouts (for your arms abs and legs) not just the cardio.

remember, keep your muscles and your body guessing and you will see great results!

GOOD LUCK! keep us posted!

Thanks for the words of advice. They are being taken to heart. I have been considering joining a new Jazzercise place in town. They have a Grand Opening sign-up Monday with a great price for the rest of the year. I checked with them and they cover aerobics and strength training. You just helped me make up my mind. I am going for sure. They even have childcare---Yahoo!
I do miss the strength training.

Thanks again!

Welcome. :)

The one bit of advice that I'd give is that while exercise is excellent, eating is 80% of the battle or more. You can exercise until the moon turns blue, but if you're not eating healthy foods in reasonable amounts, you're not going to lose weight.

Make sure that you take the time to manage your food and eating as well as get the exercise you need. :)
